WHAT A BUNCH OF—-

July 15, 2014

mmSo I wake up this morning turn the computer (Cats can do this you we ain’t stupid) and the first story I see on Yahoo News is Colombia’s president Santos tell people in South Florida what a good investment Colombia is. Now in the same article it mentions that he’s at a conference for Goldman Sachs. They are beyond a doubt the largest dirt bags in the world and have been screwing the little guy since the American Revolution. And if that wasn’t bad enough trade with South Florida was down four percent last year. Santos stands there and tells the world that drug and rebel violence is behind them now when statistics show it the highest level in ten years since he started his peace process. You want more ok here it is while the TV stations have been using the whole hour news shows to talk about the World Cup the neglect to mention the Colombia’s main oil pipe line was cut by rebels on Friday disrupting the movement of 70 % of Colombia’s oil. Now I’m not telling the world don’t invest in Colombia but I think they should be careful because as I said when Goldman Sachs is involved only the wealthy 1% stand to make out. I live in Medellin and I see the hundreds of homeless people live in under bridges, in storm drains, parks, and even sidewalks. I notice prices going up ever so slightly but enough to scare me and I have a good income. Everywhere you look high rise apartments are going up increasing the stress on the cities intra structure. I think the Colombian people need to make sure that investment money coming from the US or other countries gets distributed fairly and all go into Santos and his elitist friend’s pockets. xOver the weekend a friend, who I had met on Facebook and with whom I share a lot of common interests, received a phone that no one should ever get. His 28 year old son was shot to death at a bus stop in Chicago. There has been no one arrested as of yet and no motive other than mistaken identity. I have often wondered why these things happen but I’ve never been able to come up a reason. I expect the wackos to say he should have been carrying a gun since concealed carry permits are east to get in Chicago. Yeah like maybe if had a gun they could of got into a shootout on the street and more people might have been shot. I’m not against people owning guns but carrying them around cities I’m not in favor of. People go to ranges and learn gun safety and then walk around and they know how to handle a gun in a bad situation. Well until you’ve been shot at or had a gun pointed at you have no idea how you’d react. I’ve seen firsthand how trained police officers can panic in a shoots fired situation I also know what it’s like to be shot at and have a gun shoved in your face. You don’t just calmly take aim and shoot the other person. A famous instance took place In New York a few years ago when police detectives tried to question a man as he entered a hall way. The man made a mistake of reaching for his wallet one of the policemen yelled gun and after sixty yes sixty shots had been fired a unarmed man lay dead in the hallway having been shot only once. The point of this post isn’t about the use of firearms by police it’s about the gun manufacturers having to take some responsibility for some of these weapons getting into the hands of bad people. I think deeper background checks greater security at the manufacturing point and the ability to track weapons to purchaser. I also think the gun manufacturers and dealers should dedicate some of their enormous incomes to stopping illegal sales and should lobby for much stiffer penalties for illegal gun sales. Do I think any of this will stop all the violence? No I don’t but if one family doesn’t have to get that midnight phone call about their child it will be worth it. WHY

July 11, 2014

9So since I can’t find anything I want to really bitch about in the news lets revert to an old standby the question why. Why is if you believe part of something but not the complete thing you get criticized from both sides. Such as Jeff’s belief that people should have the right to own guns and hunt if that’s what they want to do but he doesn’t agree that people need thirty round magazines or semi automatic rifles and shot guns to do this. Now I could go on and on with this one topic but I think you understand. How about the PETA person you know the animal right s people that don’t want you to eat meat but ware leather shoes and belts. They tell you to eat vegetables but when you tell them that it’s been proven plants feel thing you told it’s different. How about you believe in superior being but you refuse to call them a god and think all religions are hypocritical. How about that girl you’ve known since she was sixteen and is now sixty two and you say she didn’t age well you can’t remember her as a youth? Why is if you don’t actually believe something and other people do that you consider them nut jobs? As Jeff has gotten older he tries hard not to get in arguments with certain people because he realizes it’s a waste of time and energy. He instead tries to find other things of interest to discuss and if he can’t well he just stops dealing with those people because they are to closed up to experience anything new. This is common amongst older folk’s maybe that’s why we can’t change anything in politics. This is Flounder saying CIAO from Medellin, Colombia.

MORE STUFF

July 10, 2014

stuffOk here’s some stuff you remember stuff well this time it’s about stuff people write about in the news. First up it’s a scientific fact that cows fart more methane gas into the air then any human or animal. Now you see this is interesting stuff because I would have bet the house it was going to be Elephants. Just goes to show you I don’t know everything about stuff. Next up we have Philippine priests telling Catholic doctors not to issue birth control. This is a nation where there is poverty everywhere; I think they’re afraid the Muslim population is getting to big and there trying to catch up. Crazy stuff right can’t feed the people you have nut lets go and make more. Next Rooster fertility problem hit us and chicken prices to rise. Well maybe if they got the chickens some nice lingerie and played some nice romantic music something besides the prices would go up. This stuff just keeps getting crazier. The ACLU just came out against a law designed to protect LGBT I thought ACLU stood for American Civil Liberties Union so what’s going on. See what I tell you there’s all kinds of stuff out there and nobody knows what to do with it me I’m going to sleep on it. This is Flounder saying Ciao from Medellin, Colombia.

KARMA

July 9, 2014

karmaOn Monday I wrote a post about how Colombia reacted to their team losing in the world and how they honored that team. Well yesterday Brazil got destroyed by Germany in a semi final match 7-1 and Brazilians reacted with shame and violence. Not only that’ it looked like the rest of South America couldn’t be happier that Brazil got whooped. Jeff was happy only because he had Germany as a finalist in his bracket. It was a sad thing to see yesterday when a team is out of contention 10 minutes into a game that’s an hour and a half long but that was the case yesterday. Jeff tried to warn people about laughing so hard at Brazil but to no avail. There is such as a thing as Karma in this world and some people better be careful. I just don’t understand you humans you win you go out and destroy stuff you lose you go out and destroy stuff doesn’t look like you can enjoy being happy. HUMANS NEED HELP

July 8, 2014

petroleoThis morning I saw this story on the news down here where the Farc had stopped an oil truck convey and made them poor 5000 barrels of oil out I to the environment. The photo accompanying this post is an actual news photo of the damage. What was surprising about this story was that this happens with a regularity that is amazing. You have to search the news and it usually comes from some other source other than Colombia but you will find that almost every week there is an attack on the oil pipe lines by the Farc. That is why the government is willing to make so many concessions to the Farc at the peace table. The Farc is costing them money lots of it. Does the Farc who says that their fighting for the poor people realize that what they did yesterday will prevent that land form being used for years to come? Do they realize that every drop of oil that hits the land is polluting the environment for years? What is it with you humans you go to war to preserve a way of life, you say you want to save the environment but you’re constantly trying to destroy it. No wonder people believe that someday in the future you’ll destroy yourselves. Look at that picture again and tell me how the Farc and ELN are fighting a revolution for the peoples of Colombia and that the violence will stop with a negotiated peace. national_pride_month_by_ataela-d6bg1lgMonday Monday here’s Monday so I looked over the weekend to see if there was anything worth posting and came up with this. On Sunday the Colombian futbol team was honored on their return from the World cup. There were at least a million probably more people lining the route from the airport to the park where they were to be honored. The rest of the world should take a serious look at this. Colombia didn’t finish in the money as they say, yet over a million people lined the streets to show their appreciation. You won’t see this in America if you lose a playoff game, you won’t get a parade, and you’ll just get a lot of negative press. Latin America celebrates the fact that their teams tried their best but it just didn’t work out. No one threw the US team a parade all I saw was one of the players who didn’t get picked bad mouthing the coach. I think there is something good about celebrating a team that didn’t win or an athlete that came in 4th especially if you’re from a small not wealthy country. It makes more athletes want to play for their country and to excel. Well that’s all I got for a Monday this is Flounder saying CIAO from Medellin,Colombia.

neymar-injuredI don’t usually write posts on the weekend but I was reading the sports and saw where FIFA was going to investigate how Neymar’s injury happened. Well I saw it on TV and it wasn’t deliberate or anything but I will tell you this if he had any back injury at all it had to aggravated by the way they handled him in removing him from the field. He was not so gently placed in this basket thing they use for stretchers and then you could see him being bounced as they carried him off the field. I don’t see that any punishment is necessary for the Colombia player that hit him maybe they should punish the medical people. What they should do is find out why the referee allowed the game to become so rough and why there weren’t at least 4 or 5 more yellow cards on both teams. This wasn’t the first game I saw a referee’s attitude affect the game in some cases as in the Japanese ref who was never seen in the cup again made outrageously bad calls in the very first game. Most of what I saw were, no calls letting infractions go and thus creating an atmosphere where something like Suarez biting a player was to be expected. Anyhow I’m sorry Naymar is out I hope he fully recovers and is back playing for Barcelona soon. This is Flounder saying CIAO from Medellin, Colombia.

QUESTIONS

July 4, 2014

sIt’s Friday and looks to be noisy down here. Colombia plays Brazil in the world cup this afternoon and cars started blowing their horns at 6:30 this morning. If Colombia wins there will be no sleeping around here this weekend. OK so the title of today’s post is questions no answers just questions. Why is it its Ok for Christians to force the Government to tell people what they can’t do such as Abortion or the use of Contraceptives, but it not OK for Muslims to try and force people to believe like they do? Why is it OK for the US to invade a country to try and make it Democratic? But if Russia invades a country to protect its citizens it considered illegal and an act of aggression. Why is it we say we want to conserve gasoline but cars ads are for powerful fast gas eaters? Why are we such a destructive race of people? Why do people hate blacks and gays but want to let the fight in our wars for us? And finally why are we so afraid of the truth? PARTY TIME IS COMING

July 3, 2014

imagesHere’s a question what is it about sports that makes people into drunken animals? Why do people always want to drink booze and get drunk during major sporting events? I know not everybody does but I think we’ve all seen news stories about rioting after a team has triumphed in some major championship. The question remains why how is tearing up some body’s lawn or setting fire to their car a celebration of an athletic championship. Tomorrow Colombia plays Brazil in the world cup and because of previous problems booze sales will either be stopped or limited in most of the major cities down here. The president gave everybody the afternoon off to watch the game, like they were really going to do work. Unfortunately there is a serious problem with booze in Colombia and really people don’t need an excuse to get drunk and do crazy shit. But when you throw in a World Cup soccer game against one of the top teams in the tournament you’re just giving people some legitimacy to go out and get drunk. Well here’s hoping that nobody’s property is damaged or life taken away. I wish there was away to test for common since and if you don’t have it you’re not allowed to do certain things like drink booze this is Flounder look for his ear plugs saying CIAO from Medellin, Colombia.
