Parenting New Year's Eve Baby SittersHere we are at the end of another year let’s see what has happened in the last twelve months to me and my family? Well Hari has gotten bigger and smarter he even picks up the phone and call his grandma, I’m not sure but I think he’s big for a two year old I know he’s a lot smarter than any other two year old I’ve seen. What else we moved and I got a great view with birds that stop by to say hello once in a while so for me life is good. We made it a year of posting on this blog thing I guess that was good. Jeff’s eldest niece Janet got a promo but had to move to Japan for a couple of years he misses her. His youngest niece Kim is busy raising her family her eldest Bill is a senior and he played football for the first time in his life, did pretty good from what I hear. Her youngest Jackson is getting really big looks like his mom I don’t know whether he’ll like that observation or not. She lives in a spectacular part of the world and is very happy her husband Bill is like Jeff retired so I guess he doesn’t do anything either. They have a dog they rescued from the pound, called Zuma, so you know their good people. Jeff finally wrote a book and published it on Amazon, I personally thought he’d never do it but the old guy came thru. Val actually read it said it was very good but she’s a good friend. Ruby seems to be happy she babysits Hari almost every day so that keeps her busy. Hari and I are great friends I love him like crazy even though he can be a little loud sometimes. His dad John and his mom Vanessa have a new home too no more living in the city for all of us now we get to see the mountains when we look out the windows instead of each other’s apartment. Hader and Catalina are together and they have a new house so now Melissa and Juan Pablo have their own rooms so everybody is happy. New Jersey was hit by a horrible storm places at the shore that Jeff knew from his younger days are just gone now. But humans are a strange breed they seem to recover from tragedy fast and they have had their share this year. I don’t want to go into it it’s sad and this isn’t the time. So what coming up in the New Year well for me I just want to stay healthy and be here to write this stupid blog again. Jeff is writing his new book wants to write at least two this year. Ruby want to be finished with menopause and she wants her family to stay healthy and happy. So now we say to everyone who has been nice enough to read this a VERY, VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR talk to you in 2013 CIAO

the_day_before_001bWell it’s Sunday Dec. 30th the last day of the regular season in the NFL and the day before New Year’s Eve. You know what I’ve never understood is why it’s called New Years Eve 2012 shouldn’t it be called New Years Eve 2013. I mean the next day is 2013 not 2012 so if the eve of something don’t you think they should tell you what it’s eve of I mean we’re ending 2012 not beginning it again (God I Hope So). So I know not too many people really care what I say but you really should give this some thought. What’s wrong with saying we’re going out tonight to celebrate New Year’s Eve 2013 it’s actually a more accurate expression of what you’re doing, if you don’t like that say we’re celebrating End of The Year Day. Doesn’t sound as exciting but it’s definitely more accurate but what do I Know I’m just a cat CIAO.

imagesSaturday and I know the post is late but everybody got up early and went shopping and I went back to bed. Looks like it’s going to be a slow weekend right now, everybody lying low waiting for New Years Eve to cut loose, I just have to get all the rest I can before than because based on Christmas Eve the noise level should actually cause damage. Look for the year end post to come on the 31st before the noise starts and I’m not sure we’re going to have a post on the first depends if my ears are still intact. A lot of good college football being plated today but we won’t get to see any of it, don’t know what happened we used to get at least one game a week last year this year nothing. I hope we get some college hoops especially March madness it helps keep Jeff calm after the holidays. Well you know I would love to stay around and chat but I need my beauty sleep CIAO.

grand_universe_by_antifan_real1You know it’s a good thing that Jeff and I enjoy writing since it seems we’re the only one besides our friend Val who read anything. Val has said if your thinking about getting my book asks her about it she loved it and can’t wait for the second one which Jeff is writing right this minute. We wish to thank everyone for their encouragement during the writing process but now we need you to put your money where your mouth is and but a copy. It’s available at amazon.com/ books, that’s where you’ll find the paperback version or you can go to amazon kindle books and get the digital version. Anyhow were gathering up some stuff for the end of the year blog if you have anything you want us to include let us know. You know what we’re looking for things you said you wanted to do last year and did or didn’t and your goals for this year. Well I’ve got to think what Jeff and I should do this year but first I think I’ll take a nap CIAO.

437755-Royalty-Free-RF-Clip-Art-Illustration-Of-A-Cartoon-Man-Holding-A-The-End-Is-Near-SignWell the year is coming to an end and we’ll start looking at it in review later this week. It’s funny how the end of a year makes us want to look back or make plans for the future isn’t it? Down here people really don’t seem to make goals for the new year it seems like their glad they made it through the last one and that’s all the really  want to do in the next one. As for me I’m with them just get me through the next one but Jeff he has set himself a couple of goals and I really hope he makes it. I’ll let him tell you about them when we do the year in review. He said to tell you one he still hasn’t completed this year and that’s to sell at least ten books before the end of the year. Now that really doesn’t seem like an unreasonable goal does it. Well people ask about it but I guess they either don’t like Science Fiction or just don’t have the time to read. Anyhow it’s available in paperback at Amazon.com under Ilf and also on kindle books if you should read it please let me know how it was so I can tell Jeff. OH there is one other thing he trying to accomplish this year and that’s to stop writing the word and back words all the time. That’s all I got for know you guys try to think if you did make goals last year did you reach any of them and what are your goal s for the new year CIAO.

day_after_xmas_600“Day after Christmas” Poem

December 25, 2012

christmas3_800_533Merry Christmas everyone hope you all had a great morning and got all the stuff you wanted? Jeff and I are still waiting for Ruby to wake up not that I’m fully awake either since there were fireworks and some idiot in the next neighborhood who thought it would be appropriate to play rap music for the whole country to hear on Christmas Eve. Now that I lost a night’s sleep I better get what I want for Christmas or it’s not going to be a nice New Year. I should feel bad for Jeff even though he came home around one he didn’t get any sleep either, but I really don’t care. Ruby got home sometime this morning she woke Jeff up to let her and he actually did. Can’t really blame her she was surprised by her Niece visiting from Switzerland or Sweden I’m really not sure. They decided it would be a great idea to stay up all night and drink and now Ruby’s paying the price as well as me and Jeff. I’m glad I didn’t know Jeff when he drink having one person in the house with a hangover is bad enough but two. Well look I’m glad everyone had  a great time last night and today but the rap music finally stopped so I’m going to try and grab a couple of winks sleep CIAO.

p_1It’s Christmas Eve and it’s also Birthday Eve for a friend of mine Rebecca and this is my last blog before Christmas, I go back to normal tomorrow, this was the most appropriate one I think.

 ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas
(or A Visit from St. Nicholas)
by Clement Clarke Moore

‘Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
in hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there.

The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
while visions of sugar plums danced in their heads.
And Mama in her ‘kerchief, and I in my cap,
had just settled our brains for a long winter’s nap.

When out on the roof there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from my bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
tore open the shutter, and threw up the sash.

The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow
gave the lustre of midday to objects below,
when, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
but a miniature sleigh and eight tiny reindeer.

With a little old driver, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment it must be St. Nick.
More rapid than eagles, his coursers they came,
and he whistled and shouted and called them by name:

“Now Dasher! Now Dancer!
Now, Prancer and Vixen!
On, Comet! On, Cupid!
On, Donner and Blitzen!
To the top of the porch!
To the top of the wall!
Now dash away! Dash away!
Dash away all!”

As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
when they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky
so up to the house-top the coursers they flew,
with the sleigh full of toys, and St. Nicholas too.

And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof
the prancing and pawing of each little hoof.
As I drew in my head and was turning around,
down the chimney St. Nicholas came with a bound.

He was dressed all in fur, from his head to his foot,
and his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot.
A bundle of toys he had flung on his back,
and he looked like a peddler just opening his pack.

His eyes–how they twinkled! His dimples, how merry!
His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!
His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,
and the beard on his chin was as white as the snow.
The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth,
and the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath.
He had a broad face and a little round belly,
that shook when he laughed, like a bowl full of jelly.

He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf,
and I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself.
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head
soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread.

He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
and filled all the stockings, then turned with a jerk.
And laying his finger aside of his nose,
and giving a nod, up the chimney he rose.

He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle,
And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.
But I heard him exclaim, ‘ere he drove out of sight,

“Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good night!”

militarychristmasI thought this might be good for this time of the year since so many of our young men are in the service

  Soldiers’ Christmas

© Ted L Glines

Creeping through the silent night,
Things that move are things of fright,
Sleighbells never ringing now
Angels seldom singing, now
Nothing comes to make their season bright.

Ring the bells and praise the Lord
For our soldiers’ love outpoured,
Post their names upon your tree
As they fight to keep us free,
Remember … their gift forevermore.

Helicopters – guns and tanks
Moving now in guarded ranks,
Not a bit of Christmas cheer
That must wait ’til Home next year,
Since their only present is your “Thanks.”

Ring the bells and praise the Lord
For our soldiers’ love outpoured,
Post their names upon your tree
As they fight to keep us free,
Remember … their gift forevermore.

Now with many flags unfurled
Boys and girls from ’round the world
Lift their voices – battle cry
Bound to win or bound to die
Brave young heroes all – to chaos hurled.

Ring the bells and praise the Lord
For our soldiers’ love outpoured,
Post their names upon your tree
As they fight to keep us free,
Remember … their gift forevermore.

Here at home with Christmas cheer
In this fun time of the year,
Let’s pause a bit from what we’ve planned,
Singing songs – with praises … and
Send a loving hug to soldiers dear.

Ring the bells and praise the Lord
For our soldiers’ love outpoured,
Post their names upon your tree
As they fight to keep us free,
Remember … their gift forevermore.

Grandma_Got_Run_Over_By_a_Reindeer_LyricsTime for a little Christmas humor

Grandma got run over by a reindeer
Walking home from our house Christmas eve
You can say there’s no such thing as Santa
But as for me and Grandpa, we believe

She’d been drinkin’ too much egg nog
And we’d begged her not to go
But she’d forgot her medication
So she staggered out the door into the snow
When we found her Christmas mornin’
At the scene of the attack
She had hoof prints on her forehead
And incriminatin’ Claus marks on her back

Grandma got run over by a reindeer
Walkin’ home from our house Christmas eve
You can say there’s no such thing as Santa
But as for me and Grandpa, we believe

Now were all so proud of Grandpa
He’s been takin’ this so well
See him in there watchin’ football
Drinkin’ beer and playin’ cards with cousin Belle

It’s not Christmas without Grandma
All the family’s dressed in black
And we just can’t help but wonder
Should we open up her gifts or send them back?

Grandma got run over by a reindeer
Walkin’ home from our house Christmas eve
You can say there’s no such thing as Santa
But as for me and Grandpa, we believe

Now the goose is on the table
And the pudding made of pig
And a blue and silver candle
That would just have matched
the hair in Grandma’s wig

I’ve warned all my friends and neighbors
Better watch out for yourselves
They should never give a license
To a man who drives a sleigh
and plays with elves

Grandma got run over by a reindeer
Walkin’ home from our house, Christmas eve
You can say there’s no such thing as Santa
But as for me and Grandpa, we believe!
