WOULD YOU?

May 8, 2013

0834d0839c8bbee905c234b0983db280Would you change anything you’ve done would you want to come back again for a second chance or would you like to come back as something different? Pretty heavy questions coming from a cat maybe I was a famous philosopher in a different life. Jeff has thought a lot about going back to change thing but he concludes that unless he came back as a completely different person he probably do the same thing again. That doesn’t mean he doesn’t have regret especially his involvement with other people and how he treated them. He feels he was too good to some and not good enough to others but he knows none of it would change where he is in life now. How about coming back would you want to? Jeff doesn’t think about that he says if you start worrying about coming back as a bird or something you’ll start thinking about dying and since he knows he can’t do anything about that he’s not going to think about it. I think you call that a fatalist funny because he thinks his brother came back as a Bottlenose Dolphin. Jeff has always been a little strange he comes down somewhere between a Hippy and Zen Buddhist monk. Well I still have about seven lives to go so I’m not about to start thinking about all this stuff, this is Flounder and his wacky friend Jeff saying CIAO from Medellin.

monkey-thinkingHave you ever wondered what Jimi Hendricks would be doing if he was alive today. How about Mama Cass, Jim Morrison, and Janis Joplin, well Jeff has and here are some of his thoughts. Jimi would probably have been in rehab ten or more times and now he probably be a preacher in some store front church called ARE YOU EXPERIENCED. Mama Cass probably had at least on gastric bypass surgery and now is making a ton of money being a spokesperson for Jenny Craig. Jim Morrison owns a pot farm in Colorado and is now trying to get Congress to legalize LSD. Janis Joplin is twenty pounds heavier and on the reunion circuit with Big Brother and the Holding Company and still throwing down Southern Comfort behind the speaker stacks and kicking cops of the stage. Just a little bit of had they lived this is Flounder saying CIAO from you know where.

YUMMMMMMMMMMM

image004.330215549_stdJeff and Ruby went shopping and out to dinner yesterday they went to a restaurant called Mis Carnes it’s a steak house and it’s fabulous and cheap by American standards. This restaurant is one of a chain in Medellin and Bogota and this particular one is located in the mall with the Exito. Down here everybody gets paid the fifteenth and first so this was the first weekend of the month that and the fact that everybody goes out to eat on Sunday down here. The mall was really busy and of course it was raining and next week is Mother’s Day so it was really busy. I think I told you there is no such thing as fast food in Colombia the line at McDonalds was about twenty deep that means people were waiting up to forty minutes for a Big Mac and fries. I don’t think people in America would stand for that even though it meant everything was freshly made. Now getting back to the steak Jeff had a T-Bone with fried Plantain chips salad and baked potato for 24900 pesos or about $13.59 in dollars take that along with the fact that it was close to 24 oz and you know why we say the cost of living is cheaper down here. That is the same price you pay for three medallions of Filet Mignon wrapped in bacon. Jeff says he doesn’t even want to think what that would cost in a steak place in the US. Well all this talk of food is making me hungry so this is Flounder saying CIAO from Medellin BON APPETITE.

QUESTIONS

May 5, 2013

imagesQuestions I’ve come up with a few and I’d love to hear your answers so here we go. 1) Why if the combustible engine (the type of engine in your car) has been obsolete since 1946, hasn’t been replaced by whatever made it obsolete in the first place? 2) If animals can learn to coexist why can’t humans? 3) Why do people complain about the high cost of concerts and sporting events but still spend the money to go? 3) Why if we’re going to run out of natural resources in a few years haven’ we been able to convince the idiots running the world to do something about it? 4) Why if people kill people and not gun, as the NRA is so fond of saying, are they so upset when we want to check to see if these people are nut or not? 5) Why in Colombia if there are only 2ix thousand Farc rebels and many thousand more police and Solders can’t they be found and eliminated? And lastly if a tree falls in the forest does anybody care? This is Flounder and Jeff saying CIAO from Medellin Colombia.

imagesYou want to know how language is changing and what can be said and what shouldn’t be said and where ok I’ll give you some examples never say the words Bomb, Biological, radioactive while standing in line at the airport oh and also don’t kid around about kidnapping or hijacking. Remember when IT was just a two letter adverb now it’s a noun describing the internet. I can’t stand all the political correctness going around now you can’t do the Tomahawk chop or cal you team Indians or Redskins and the list goes on and on. OK but it seems to be OK when people with 5% American Indian blood get to open a casino and say there helping the tribe. I don’t see a lot of Indians driving to the casino in a Cadillac. We’re obsessed with not offending anyone but it took years and years and a lawyer before anybody got upset. I guess Jeff is well adjusted enough that he doesn’t get upset about that stuff he doesn’t think it offensive and doesn’t think ending the tomahawk chop is going to make up for two hundred years plus of genocide. I guess I got a little away from language maybe another day this is Flounder and his 20% Indian buddy saying CIAO from Medellin.

waterfall_web_environmentLet’s talk a little bit about the environment shall we Jeff has complained in the past about the pollution of the Medellin river and the area around the stream by his house. He’s seen these things I America as well. He say it happens at two different times first when the build what is referred to as low income housing where you take people who living in bad conditions and build nice places for them to live. The problem comes from having to teach them that now they don’t drop garbage on the ground or in Colombia’s case throw it in the river or the nearest gully. It took years for people in Newark to understand that and there are still sections where you’ll see abandoned cars and garbage strewn everywhere. This will remain a problem in America and Colombia until people stop taking the environment for granted and they will also need to take pride in their neighbor hoods. I’ve learned not to scratch the furniture or poop where I shouldn’t, but it appears people are much harder to train in that regard. Now it seems to get better as people get older but the young ones just don’t care and they’re the ones who will have to deal with the results of there not caring. Well I’m going to climb down off my soap box for now this is Flounder saying CIAO from Medellin

map_columbiaThis will be as short post since Jeff doesn’t feel good and I have to keep him company in bed. I’ve written a lot of posts about Colombia mainly because it’s where we live now, it really is a beautiful country but like everywhere else it has problems. Jeff lives on Social Security something he couldn’t do I America because it’s just too expensive there, but down here he’s able to live better than the average person. By no means is rich but he’s able to what he wants when he wants he has good health insurance which to him is cheap (about 45 dollars a month) but it’s not cheap if your Colombian. Whenever they go to the store and a young lady is waiting on them they ask do we know any American men they could meet. I don’t think they’re looking for rich men they seem to think American men treat their wives better and don’t drink as much. That’s just a culture difference and I’m not sure it accurate, the people down here are rated some of the happiest in the world. I think that’s because they let the stress of little thing bother them like we do. OK I here Jeff doing his I’m sick routine so I’ll have to cut this short, this is Flounder and sick little buddy Jeff saying CIAO from Colombia.

odence-surpriseWell I really don’t have a specific idea for today’s post so I thought I’d just start writing and see what happen after all it works for Jeff when he’s writing his books. Let’s see we talked about nostalgia yesterday and that got me to thinking if I regretted anything I did or didn’t do and I don’t think so. Jeff regrets not starting to write earlier in life but his excuse is probably the same as everyone else that didn’t try something when they were young, fear of rejection. That’s the same thing you feel when your very young and you see that boy or girl that makes you feel strange but you think there to good for you and if you approached them they would reject you. So what do you do you don’t try and thusly avoid the stigma of rejection. Jeff says yes that was probably one reason why he never tried but the big reason was the money it took to publish something. Now I know a lot of people as they get older sit around and wonder if they had done this or that what would have happened. My answer is take an honest look at your personality and you’ll find out that you’d be exactly where you are today no matter what you did in the past. Take me for example no matter what I did as a kitten I was going to end up in a good home happy and content. A lot of my friends have experienced hardships at a young age and I know how that can shape their future. If they let it get them down or dwell on it for too long a period they miss that opportunities that are in front of them. If they just shrug their shoulders and go on they will miss the feeling that are necessary to heal a lost and they might just make the wrong decisions about the future. OK that’s it I don’t have a degree in philosophy and this is beginning to sound like a term paper so this is Prof. Flounder and his sidekick Jeff saying CIAO from Medellin Colombia.

DON’T FORGET

April 29, 2013

nostalgiaFirst thing first Medellin and Nacional tied yesterday and that’s all that need s to be said on the topic.
I noticed a lot of my friends are getting nostalgic about the good old days. There is nothing wrong with that except are you sure they were the good old days? I mean think about it would want to go back and go thru all the struggles that got you where you are today again I mean we all had some great times with friend and now thanks to sites like Facebook we get a chance to hook up with old friends. It would seem humans have a strange fascination with the past, now don’t get me wrong it’s important to remember the past so that we can do thing we did right again and make sure we don’t make the same mistake we made then again. If you really think about this you’ll realize that the good old days are happening right now today will be part of history tomorrow and future will soon become the past. It is good to remember the past but not so good if we constantly dwell on it, we cats are great at remembering the past. I’m sure you’ve seen us stop and stare at a wall when there’s nothing there. It doesn’t accomplish much except take up time we could be doing something more productive. I guess what I’m trying to say is remember the past but don’t let it stop you from moving on. This is Flounder and his buddy Jeff saying CIAO from the past and looking forward to the future.

IF YOUR A MAN READ THIS

April 27, 2013

m_2100028bWell this is looking like the week where I piss off everybody (something I’m pretty good at) and here we go. For the purpose of this post I going assume that the men reading it are either married now or have been or at least lived with a woman for a period of time. Now I want you to think have you ever really taken a look in your closets? If you only have one closet and have recently moved in with your girlfriend have you noticed your clothes are tighter together then they were the last time you checked and you have less floor space because there seems to be more shoes than last week. Well you’re not alone in that men all over the world are experiencing the same thing, next you’ll here “Honey I think we need a bigger place, one with more closet space.” Now what is she talking about well I’ll tell you if you have a job which requires you to wear a suit you may have two or possibly three that you’ll wear. A woman on the other hand will not wear the same clothes twice in a week, more likely two weeks. They change shoes sometime two and three times a day. Jeff and I live in a country where getting dressed up means some died or you’re in the entertainment business. The typical dress here is jeans and a t-shirt now women can’t possibly where the same jeans twice even if you can’t tell the difference in styles but they will the same pair of sandals all week. but when you look in their closet you’ll find anywhere from twenty to a hundred pairs of shoes and boots some only worn once maybe a year ago. There is no explanation for this and if you ask you might as well get ready to be single again. That’s why men don’t go shopping with their wives, they’re afraid that they’ll ask don’t you have four pairs of boots that style home. That’s one of the questions a man should never ask a woman unless he is completely insane. So in closing the next time you girl or wife goes out, and your home take a close look in the closet and look at you money. This is single and not looking Flounder saying CIAO from lovely Medellin.
