I THINK
April 16, 2014
I’ve been listening to a lot of classic rock with Jeff lately and reading about this great band or that getting back together again but one stands out for its desire not to get back together. Led Zeppelin I’m sure you’ve heard of them they are considered one of if not the most successful Rock and Roll band ever. There reason for not getting back together again seems to me to be the ego of Robert Plant the rest of the band is willing but he’s not and I think not knowing the legal stuff that page and the rest give too much credit to him. I mean he can’t say he hates the music he plays it in concert with other bands such as Band of Joy. So what’s the problem well in Led Zeppelin it just Led Zeppelin in Band of Joy it’s Robert Plant and Band of Joy. I think he resents the fact that Jimmy Page started the group and not him. Nobody goes around and says gee I’d love to Robert Plant and the group play they say they’d love to see Led Zeppelin play. I’ve also heard Plants voice recently and unlike Roger Daltry his voice is not the same. So I think he’s afraid of being embarrassed by it if he went on tour with Zep. He can claim all he wants that he hates Stairway to Heaven and that’s probably because he has to share credit for it with Jimmy Page. I’ve see all the great egos in rock and I think his the worse. When you think they could go out and play 25 shows at the biggest venues in the world and make enough money to buy their own country its jus t stupid. Well this is Flounder, and I still love the Zep, saying CIAO from Medellin.
HEALTH INSURANCE AGAIN
April 15, 2014
Here we go again politicians are taking Obama care too court again and like I’ve said before I don’t understand health insurance. It seems that in the past when you go to use it is when you find out what it really covers. But I’ve also commented here if you don’t like Obama care what is your solution to a problem that I’ve been hearing about since I was a kid. Doctors charge too much and hospitals charge too much and insurance is too expensive. But the thing I find the most entertaining is once Obama care passed both house and was signed by the president people started screaming it was no good and needed to be changed. This was exactly what I heard for years when the old systems were in place. People blame the immigrants, law suits and mal practice insurance premiums for the high cost of health care. I think the parking lot full of BMW’s and Lexus’s might have something to do with it. I have met more doctors who have this feeling of entitlement because it took so much money to get there education or because the can and do have the power of life and death in their hands. There are a few million people who have signed up for Obama Care and seem relatively satisfied with it so now the politicians want to screw this up again. You do realize people in government don’t have to worry about health insurance theirs is covered only the people who vote for them and work for a living have to worry about it. This is Flounder, and my health insurance is named Jeff, saying CIAO from Medellin.
YOU DON’T ALWAYS GET WHAT YOU RIOT FOR
April 14, 2014
Jeff has been posting pictures of the most infamous riots in the US on Facebook Newark, Watts, and Kent state. Some of these were over the war in Viet Nam others were about race. While he was involved in this I decided to look at what happened after ward and what I found for the most part was that the motive might get results it usually doesn’t help the area where the riot took place. Newark might have been one of several riots to bring the inequality of the races into the political arena but the city itself was sent into recession that it is still trying to recover from. The same goes for the surrounding areas. Kent state suffered for a stigma for a few years but because most of the people involved were transient life has returned to normal after more than 40 years. Riots in Colombia by poor agricultural workers haven’t accomplished exactly what they wanted and probably never will. In neighboring Venezuela riots are being conducted by students and farmers but if they succeed, they aren’t the one s who will benefit it will be the aristocrats that do. I understand the desire to strike or protest to bring your problem to the forefront seeking some solace but as a rule they don’t accomplish their intended goal. Look at the hippie peace protesters and where they are now they didn’t accomplish peace that was accomplished by force of economics. In other words the war got too expensive. As for the majority of the hippies they sold out and went to work for corporate America and threw away their tie died t-shirts and but on Brooks brothers suits. I’m not saying people should not protest just be aware that the results won’t be quite what you expected. This is Flounder saying CIAO from Medellin.
HAVE YOU NOTICED
April 11, 2014
Have you noticed that there has been a major earthquake almost every day for the last few weeks? The latest was Friday in New Guinea, a seven point something, and Thursday there was one in Nicaragua. I’m beginning to think the planet is trying to tell us something only we’re too stupid to listen. Could this pertain to the end of the world as we know it or is this just an old planet flexing its joints? I’m hoping for the latter but with Mother Nature you can never be sure of her mood. I don’t think anything man has done such as global warming can cause earthquakes but I’m not really sure. I do believe, especially being a cat, the nature tries to communicate with us from time to time to let us know she’s not happy. There are so many thing we do wrong based on past beliefs that we’ll always have enough of everything and if not we’ll find something else. The early people of this planet such as the Indians of the Americas understood the bond that exists between man and nature. They took only what they needed and made sure to replenish not strip the planet. It was he white man and his inherent greed that has but the Americas at the head of raping the planet. Now the other countries want what we have and they strip forests without replanting dig huge strip mines the abandon them. One destroys a source of Oxygen the other destroys Sources of fresh water. Jeff and I are both old and will hopefully not be around to see the end results if people don’t stop and listen to Mother Nature’s complaints. So it will be up to the youth to either change the way we live or to suffer the consequences of their parent’s actions and teachings. This is Flounder saying CIAO from Medellin Colombia.
STUMPED
April 10, 2014
Jeff has started a new book or should I say he’s trying to start a new book. He had a title Children Gone but now he rethinking it which means he’s playing a lot of spider solitaire on the computer and chatting on Facebook in other words nothing getting done. He knows the cover although he has yet to go and take the photos for it. He has sold six paperback copies of his last book the cover of which you can see above. His main Character suffered a major loss in High School got his revenge went on to graduate then went into the Army where they made him a ranger then a Long range reconnaissance patrol (LRRP) he was also a world class sniper. He found that he enjoyed killing to the extent that he called himself a serial killer, and he was. He enjoyed watching so called untouchable people die slow and painfully. But now he’s out of the service tried police work that didn’t help. Went to college where he discovered an aptitude for writing computer programs as well as hacking systems. He graduates with masters in two subjects Computer science and Criminology. He decides to open a private eye/cyber security agency. He survives attacks from CIA drug dealer’s meets new and old friends and now we don’t know. I’ve seen Jeff like this before and once he gets the title done he’ll become a writing fiend but till then I’ve got to put up with the electronic sounds of cards being dealt as a new game of Spider Solitaire begins. REVIEW NO 6
April 9, 2014
Today we’ll review the Tarzan aeries by Edgar Rice Burroughs. I grew up with Tarzan in the movies played by Johnny Weissmuller and I read the comic books and some of the novels I preferred is western series to Tarzan but that’s for another review. My big problem with the series as a whole is it’s repetitive and boring. I mean once you’ve gone through the first few stories you began to wonder if he just started writing for the big bucks or his publisher kept demanding more because I mean it the books start to look like they were written by a lazy person who just changed a name or two and handed it back in. You see this is why I don’t think people should write reviews a simple liked it or didn’t like it would do. But because people want reviews I feel compelled to write one and thus critique one of the most famous authors of all time. He wrote westerns, sci-fi, and many others but I guess he’s best known for Tarzan and maybe that’s why he got lazy it was a cash cow for him. Well I’ve probably pissed off the whole literary public now so I’ll say this is Flounder saying CIAO from Medellin
WORLD CUP AND THE POOR
April 8, 2014
The world cup is coming in May and those of you in America are probably going whites the big deal but to the rest of the world it’s the biggest sporting event in the world. The host country is Brazil and it looks like they may be actually ready. There is a lot of corruption in Latin American politics and Brazil I right near the top. If you look at the two pictures I posted on the right is what they hope you see and remember. The left on represents what they hope you don’t see. First the slums are not safe second there not safe. The country has been sending in troops to the larger ones trying to clean them out and if that doesn’t work they have accidental fires that burn half of it to the ground. As beautiful as the country is and as successful as it economy might be it has one of the largest population s of poor in the world. Many had hoped the world cup would help improve thing but the Elite that run this country don’t give a shit about the poor they just wish they would go away. So when if you watch the spectacle of the World Cup try to remember all the poor people who won’t have the opportunity to see it even though some of them helped build the stadiums. This is Flounder saying CIAO from Medellin another city that turn a blind eye to the plight of it’s poor.
REVIEW NO 5
April 7, 2014
Well this is late today and I don’t care I had a lot of personal stuff to take care of this morning. I’m going to review a classic called Cards on the Table by Agatha Christie. Now this author has been around forever it seems and I don’t pretend to be such a person as to criticize a great author who only ranks behind The Bible and Shakespeare as most published. But I will say that I loved the book because it makes you think. You don’t know who did it at the beginning you have a list of suspects but you like our hero Hercule Poirot must figured out who done it.IN today’s world of mystery writers very few write like this they all like you to know who did and then watch the hero blunder his way to the solution. I guess you can tell I wish for the old days of writing to return but alas I don’t think there’s enough imagination left. This is a melancholy Flounder saying CIAO from Colombia.
RELATIONSHIPS
April 4, 2014
Today I want to talk about relationships, now before you think this is going to a Dr Phil post forget it I don’t pretend to be an expert; after all I’m a cat. I’m going to let Jeff take over for awhile but I’ll be back before we go. I no expert either but I have had my share of broken heart relationships. When I broke somebody else heart I never felt like I did something bad I just knew that I couldn’t give this person what they were looking for so I left. Maybe I could have done some of it differently or nicer and I tried but sometimes the only way to close the relationship was to mean. I never felt good about that and it would bother me my friends would get mad but they weren’t answering the phone a 2am. When I would get my heart broken, or thought it was broken, I would go into deep depression asking God why me. After awhile I would realize it was over and there was nothing I could do. After awhile the depression wasn’t going away and I noticed that I kept making the same mistakes in picking a partner over and over again. Well I talked to my friends most of whom were smarter than me and I entered therapy. That didn’t work out to well it was group and I noticed everybody had been there for years and was still talking about the same problem. I was looking for help and it wasn’t going to come here so I left. I was fine for a few years dealing mostly n one night stands and not letting myself get involved. Then I met my first wife and if you want to talk about making mistakes. At one point before I married her we broke up and I was so screwed up I wanted to kill myself. I went so far as to seal all the windows and doors and was ready to turn on the gas when the cat I had at the time Keith jumped up on my lap and stared cry and for some reason I could do it. I called a friend to come sit with me and he came right over. I thought the depression was gone but I was wrong even though I had quit drinking, thinking that would solve the problem, of course I was wrong. I asked around and was given some phone numbers to call and found a therapist that I could afford and it was the best phone call I ever made. I didn’t feel different but everybody who knew me said there was a big change. I wasn’t done making mistakes, I married that women and that could of ended worse but it turned out OK. I was Ok I got on with my life had a couple of small setbacks but I was able to handle them without the depression and eventually met Ruby and couldn’t be happier. I guess what I’m trying to say is that don’t be proud look around find some help it might not work the first time but it will. You might feel like your life is over now but trust me it’s not maybe you’ll find out your not the marring kind or you need to get away from some people whatever you’ll be OK with a little help from a PRO. I said PRO because friends have a tendency to take your side and that’s not always a good thing. OK Jeff I think you have gone on long enough hope what you said will help somebody but human relations are the most complicated thing in the world. This is Flounder and I’m happy and proud to be friends with Jeff so now it’s time to say CIAO from Medellin.
MORE GLOBAL WARMING
April 3, 2014
Here I go again ranting about the climate this time because Jeff and I just read an article where Wyoming decide not to approve new science standards to be taught in schools because the climate or Global warming was going to be discussed. So now you have a bunch of high school seniors who think everything is Ok in the world. According to most (90 +%) scientists it probably already too late to prevent the damage of Global warming. I guess once New York City and New Orleans and other low lying areas of the world go under water maybe one of these ass holes with his head up his ass will go gee maybe there is something to this global warming stuff. Of course by that time people will be killing each other over dry land and food. You know we should have learned from the American Indian and had a little more respect for the planet. I guess there sitting on their reservations going see whose getting screwed now. This is Flounder saying CIAO from Medellin.
