JUST ABOUT ANYTHING

This is one of those posts where we get to write about anything or everything. First up age Jeff is 68 and I’m around 14 (about 70 in human years) and according to statists we have reached the average life span for our particular species. So from this point on everyday is a bonus but when you look around a lot has changed. Manner’s what is deemed polite and correct is nowhere near what Jeff and I grew up with. Language is another thing that has changed making understanding people in your own country difficult at times. Colombian politics is next President Santos seems poised for reelection now for us it actually is important because we believe he will cause the cost of living to rise which means we will have less to spend but unlike Colombians who can demand more pay or change jobs we can’t, we only have the Social Security check to live on. Have you seen the weather in the North East lots of snow on the ground? This winter is very similar to the one right before we moved down here and ws one of many reasons for the move. Well this is Friday the Olympics will be big on TV and about as boring as anything else on. I really don’t want to write anymore so this is Flounder saying CIAO from Colombia. HOLIDAY? DEPENDS WHERE YOU ARE

Tomorrow is Valentine’s day I the US but not here in Colombia which doesn’t mean this is not a romantic country it just means they celebrate it at a different time in this case September. Christmas is not celebrated in a lot of countries because of religious belief but did you know it’s not a holiday in Japan. Labor Day is celebrated in September in the US and may in Colombia and some other countries. Thanksgiving is a traditional American Holiday although Canada has one to at a different time of year. Just about every country has its Independence Day and there all different. It nice to know that you can have differences that aren’t war related. Most Holliday differences are cultural if celebrated on a different day and religious if not celebrated at all. In the US they made a lot of Holidays fall on a Monday such as Martin Luther King Day and Presidents day. In the case of presidents day there used to be two separate Holidays one for George Washington and one for Abraham Lincoln. The Monday after Easter used to be a National Holiday as well. They took away the Easter Monday and gave King is day they took the two presidents and combined them to give an extra three day weekend. The three day weekend wasn’t given to the people because they worked so hard and needed the rest it was given so the banks could take a break and have an extra day to play with your money. Ok that’s all I got this is Flounder saying CIAO from Colombia where they average a Holliday about every twenty days or so.

Here’ something we expect but seldom get from our governments TRUTH. Politicians lie to us to their priests to everybody and then when they’re caught they just lie some more. If you’re a journalist or investigator trying to get to the truth you risk being attacked as yellow journalist or a individual seeking fame at the expense of others. Now that’s in the US in some countries being a comedian and making fun of there lying can get you shot. What makes politicians think we’re too stupid to know when they’re lying? We’re not it’s just they lie so much we don’t care anymore we’ve become anaesthetized to there lies. Remember Jack Nicholson saying “Truth you want the Truth you can’t handle the Truth”. Jeff has actually met politicians who believe that to be the truth. When the next economic crash takes place I don’t think there lies are going to be good enough to stop the people from taking drastic measures. Like most of the people who hate us they will tear down the government in the hope that something better will arise. Unfortunately I believe that will just result in more liars and more people willing to believe them. This is Flounder saying Ciao from Medellin Colombia
PLAGUE

The new epidemic began in the cave hideouts of AQLIM in Tizi Ouzou province, 150km east of the capital Algiers, and the Sun reports. This happened 2009 nine it was reported that the Plague attacked the Al Qaeda operatives in there cave hide out. It was announced as President Obama was being inaugurated. The fact that they did of plague is not in question what is in question is whether or not they in fact were experimenting with the disease to weaponize it for use against the west. People believe that rats caused the plague in a way there right but it’s not the rats but the fleas that do the damage. The disease shuts down the flea’s ability to feed making them ravenous they then leave their host and will bite humans other animals and spread the plague. If they were experimenting with it then they probably died because they didn’t have antibiotics or a proper lab to do the work. It’s been theorized that some really crazy terrorist might try and develop a drug resistant strain and turn it loose on the world. They wouldn’t even have to do that if the latest bird flu was allowed to spread to the rest of the world we would then have what is referred to as a pandemic. Which if the scientist are to be believed would devastate the worlds population in months perhaps even weeks. This is not some macabre science fiction story these are real facts. Religious fanatics or dedicated terrorist with a mental problem could remove 70% of the world’s population and then in their mind reshape it the way they think it should be. HOW TO TELL IF YOUR IN COLOMBIA

Sorry about yesterday but Jeff’s wife had the flu for the last few days and then he had to go to Medellin to see his eye doctor yesterday. Everything his fine now so here’s a post that some might find funny and others might get pissed, in other words a normal post from me. We’re titling this HOW DO YOU KNOW YOUR IN COLOMBIA. If you get out of a cab and have promised God you’ll go to church 5 times a day you’re in Colombia. If you’ve just seen a fifteen year old 89 pound girl with a pair of 44 double Ds that are so firm you could but a whole cocktail tray on them and not spill a drop, you’re in Colombia. If you look out your apartment window and see fifty buzzards circling your probably in Colombia. If you see a police man talking to a pretty girl or on his cell phone while next store the clerk has to pay a kid 20000 pesos for protection and the cop doesn’t even notice then you’re in Colombia. If you a police man getting beat up by a woman as a crown watches you’re in Colombia. If you walk down a street of beautiful homes and then walk around the corner and you’re in the ghetto you’re I Colombia. If you a seventy year old woman wearing a thong at the pool you are in, hell I mean, Colombia. Some of these things I guess you could see just about anywhere but if you can see them all in one day you are definitely in Colombia. If your President can put you a sleep while he’s talking about a major crisis then you’re in Colombia. Well that should piss of the chamber of commerce; this is Flounder saying CIAO from Medellin.
SCIENCE OR FAITH

Well today’s, topic should piss off everybody which of means I’ll be happy. Jeff and I have recently seen articles about Creationism vs Evolution now in this post we’re not really going to take sides if we can help and we intend to include some other debates as well. First let’s explain the two terms; Creationism is the belief that the world is only 6000 years old because that’s what the Bible says. It is faith based meaning there is no scientific proof. Evolution or Darwinism as it is sometimes call is based on discoveries of bones which are I believe the say 60,000 years old and there is thousand of such scientific knowledge out there. Now evolution doesn’t say god doesn’t exist it says that the Bible is wrong in when the world began and it is wrong that man suddenly appeared in his present form when God created him. It simply says that if God created life maybe he let it develop on its own. Creationism says god did it all evolution is a lie thought up by the Devil or somebody and that if you have faith you can’t believe in Evolution and it should even be taught in school. In other words like other dictators the Christine faith doesn’t want you to be exposed to any other belief. Now I think and remember I’m just a cat that the truth might just be a combination of the two beliefs. Now as for the other great debate going on I’ve written about it before and that’s global warming. Now the funny thing is that the people that don’t think it’s happening are people who either don’t believe in fact or have a lot to lose if changes are made to how we get and use our energy. Well that should getting going for now I might post tomorrow because I missed yesterday Hari wasn’t feeling well so he spent the whole day with us and I got nothing done. Still don’t have any real exciting stuff I mean I could talk about spying in Colombia but what’s the big deal everybody is doing it now. How about Facebook is ten years old and there making movies so you look back to the day you joined Jeff saw his pretty cool brought back memories. Jeff and Ruby filled out the paper work to renew his visa and national ID card. This should be good as I don’t think they have a clue as to the right way to do it. Jeff is so frustrated he just doesn’t care anymore. It’s snowing in New Jersey and the sun is shining down here and it’s in the seventies. I think people like the cold until they get ready to retire then they don’t want to shovel any more or wear four layers of clothes. I will be talking a little about Jeff’s book later in the week that should be exciting NOT. Well I see by the angle of the sun it’s nap time this is Flounder saying CIAO from Medellin

Well the Super Bowl is gone and Jeff is sitting here listening to Aerosmith’s Honkin on BoBo so it doesn’t look like he has a topic in mind for today. We could talk about soccer the Championship league resumes the end of the month but I don’t feel like it yet we could do CATS RULE but that sound a little too self serving. Politics is a good way to piss people off that and religion, but I’ve pretty much pissed everybody I know this week already on Facebook and Twitter. We could talk about Jeff’s new book, which will be old, by the time he finishes it. How about world peace, too much of a fantasy story huh? We could talk about the Album Jeff is listening to but that would get him started on one of his rants and I want to take a nap soon. I guess we’re just going to have to leave it like this until tomorrow this is Flounder saying CIAO from Medellin.

The Super Bowl is over and as has happened to many times the game was not competitive. Jeff’s brother would have said there is no way two teams at his level should have one so much better than the other. What’s that you say the game was fixed? No I’m not saying that there wasn’t a huge difference to the betting line that would make that a feasible thought. It was more of one team being really unprepared and then falling apart after the first play. One of the things to come out of this game is that if the NFL wants to keep being the No1 sport in the country they’re going to have to do something to make this, there showcase game, more competitive. I don’t know about a lot of other people but after the second half opening kickoff was run back for a touchdown Jeff stopped watching and I don’t blame him. Being from the New York area and not having a favorite team in the game he was hoping for a really great entertaining game and was he ever disappointed. I don’t think rule changes are the answer and I’m not sure you can do anything really. There is so much hype about this game but it all comes back to the original winning coaches philosophy don’t try and be tricky just concentrate on the fundamentals and everything will come our right. In football today coaches try to make the offense complicated while the defense just does what it does. There wasn’t anything fancy about Seattle’s defense they just beat Denver up. Jeff remembers watching Dan Marino and his great offense when they played the 49ers and Marino had these great receivers and runners and they were going to destroy the 49ers. Well the receivers of Miami had never been hit by the likes of Jack Tatum. After they had absorbed a couple of hits on the sideline whenever Tatum came near they ran out of bounds. Now the Denver receivers didn’t do that but one about Payton and most other quarterbacks is they don’t respond to defensive pressure well. Payton just want to go back and throw the ball he’s not good on the move. Well that’s enough about the game I was bored when Jeff and I were watching it and I’m bore now writing about it this is Flounder saying CIAO from Medellin.
