It’s Monday time to take a look and see what’s been happening. First Nacional won Medellin lost now we’ll have to listen to John for awhile. The Knicks got knocked out of the playoffs. The Yankees are in first place and the Mets aren’t. The sun is shining in Medellin that should be a top story hope it stays that way for awhile. Jeff finally got new filters for my water fountain and now the water tastes like water again. El Jefe came over yesterday always good to see him he even cooler than Jeff. Let’s see what else Justin Bieber got booed at the Billboard music awards last night to bad the kid doesn’t have real talent. Taylor swift won eight awards she’s got talent but she wins because there’s no else out there. She does write songs and can sing live unlike Brittney Spears whose biggest claim to fame is she doesn’t like to wear underwear. Rap music is still big but it’s not the music of the street anymore the guys performing just make money from the street most are really glad they don’t live in those neighborhoods anymore. The sports season slows down now with not too much soccer left and basketball winding down that sort of leaves Baseball and Jeff would rather watch grass grow. It’s all the same to me the music the sports they’re just things on the TV that make noise nod keep me awake. Speaking of which this Flounder saying CIAO from Medellin.

We have now written 278 pages and 133,153 words since I started doing this that a lot of BS to come up with don’t you think. Anyhow I thought today we’d talk about what to do on raining day in Colombia and we came up with the normal stuff. You know sit around watch TV; go to the mall try to see a movie, or just window shop. Ruby does one of her the house is filthy and I need to clean then she spend three hours cleaning and is too tired to do anything else. Jeff works on his book, reads, watches TV and generally tries to stay out of Rubies way (she’s not a happy camper when she’s cleaning). Most of Colombia does the same and of they also drink a lot, which Jeff doesn’t do anymore, thank god. As for me I climb up on their bed go to the center of my blanket and crash until it’s time to eat and guess what that’s where I’m going right now so this is Flounder saying CIAO from Medellin.

There’s a big lottery tonight in the US it’s called Power Ball and the winner can get 6oo million dollars, that’s a lot. But that prize is divided over 25 years and cannot be transferred to your survivors should you die. If you want just one payment in cash it’s 376 million and that’s not too bad. Of course you have to pay taxes and that’s almost half so now you down to about 180 million, poor baby. Now you have to hide from all the relatives you didn’t know you had and all the people who are going to try and tell you what to do with the money. It’s fun to think what you would do with all that money me I’m a cat I don’t use money I just rub up against somebody’s leg and I get what I want. Jeff says he still would live in the US he might not stay in Colombia but he just doesn’t want to live in the US. I think he’s just saying that, but not to worry he doesn’t have a ticket in the lottery so he’s not going anywhere. Do you guys read the stuff going on in the world like this story about the FBI seizing phone records of the Associated Press? How about Facebook privacy and what happens when you like a page? Well I’m here to tell you everybody is watching everybody else. There are cameras everywhere and when the government isn’t watching you private industry gathering info so they can sell it, and don’t get me started on the Hackers out there. I will say if it wasn’t for some of these Hackers we might never know about who watching us. Unfortunately I believe it’s reach a point of no going back, I don’t think we can stop them from watching us. Your cell phone will allow the Government to locate you to within three feet of where your standing and I know your saying well I’ll just turn it off. Hey dummy they can turn it on remotely ok so now you’re not going to have a cell phone or use the internet or anything else that might leave a trail. Let me ask you do you have a dog or cat that you really love and didn’t you have the Vet put in a Microchip just in case they get lost? Well guess what they got you as well as me. I know we’re supposed to feel safer with the government looking out for terrorists but they’re collecting information on all of us. One last example the National Security Agency has been doing this for years they have computers listening to every transmission that goes through the air. They look for certain words or phrases and then if they find one they will have humans looking at it they do the same with books and other publications. It’s a lot easier now that there’s online publication now they don’t have to scan everything they can just download it and check it. Well that should give you something to think about next time you’re walking down the street look around see how many cameras are watching you. Have you ever noticed that if something really tastes good and you love it that it’s really bad for you? It’s like sports if you love to play it it’s doing you physical harm. I’m a cat and petting me is supposed to be good for your blood pressure, but most of the people that could benefit from me are either allergic or plain just don’t like me. (Not my buddy Jeff) Medicine that really works either has bad side effects or tastes lousy. The government keeps changing its mind on what’s good for you and what s bad for you like eggs or wine. I guess it boils down to who does the biggest payoff that week. Most teenagers love music but if you go to concerts and stand up front near the speakers you’re going to have ear problems later in life. I don’t know what to tell you I guess you should just try to do thing in moderation except when it come s to petting me. This is Flounder and his buddy Jeff saying CIAO from Medellin.

This is really late but I was busy sleeping it was just so quiet around here. Jeff got to meet Camilo’s girl friend yesterday and she seem nice Nacho was in rare form Hader was there and John and family as well it’s nice to see the family together. In soccer Medellin won on Friday and Nacional plays to day. Today is a holiday down here and nobody works it’s the ascension and since this is a very Catholic country it a big deal especially when Colombia got its first Saint on Sunday. Welcome to Mothers Day 2013, hope all you moms out there are having a great day and the kids are behaving. I find it curious that in society that until a few years ago was totally male dominated that Mothers Day is such a big holiday and Fathers Day is like yeah OK. The only thing special about Fathers Day is you can’t get a tee time at the local golf course and DAD get to control the remote until he passes out. I really think the move Fathers Day to Super Bowl Sunday moms don’t get to much attention on that day. I know Jeff’s friends in the restaurant business are already hard at work and wishing that they had chosen another profession. Jeff and Ruby are getting ready to BBQ with Olga Nacho and the boys as for me well I’m going to be doing my normal Mother’s Day thing, curl up on the bed and try to sleep the day away until Jeff comes home and gives me a big hug and tells me he loves me. Tomorrow is Mothers Day down here and everywhere else I guess it’s the biggest day of the year in the restaurant business. It is hated by all of us who have ever worked that day you 10 times as busy and make half the money. Jeff, Ruby and I have all lost our moms so we celebrate the fact that Ruby and her sisters are mothers. They’ll all be going to Olga’s house to BBQ tomorrow and I get to spend most of the day alone, which is cool Jeff will come home and give me a big hug and Ruby might even scratch my ears. I know most of Jeff’s friends in the US will either be spending the day home or working since most have or are working in a restaurant. I should post pictures of Jeff’s an Ruby’s mothers and maybe I can find one of my own. Cat moms take care of us until where about eight weeks old then kick us out so we’re not really close. OK let’s talk about morality in US today I read an article about a 26 year old teacher in Florida who was fired for modeling a Bikini and having her picture taken. I’ve seen the photos and there’s nothing wrong with them there not sexy or in any way pornographic and she wasn’t showing them to her students. What interested me is how the principle found them, what was he looking for? This is just another example of how America is taking a step back. What do I mean? In the sixties we had what a people refer to as the sexual revolution where we stopped keeping the word sex in the closet. Granted there were was some over doing of it but if we hadn’t had that little revolution we would have more pregnant teenagers and unwanted children then we do today. Sex education is better taught in a class room then a locker room. Having a more open policy towards education allows kids to learn good sex habits instead of sneaking porn magazines and film in to the house and watching women be missed treated and exploited. The way the US is going led by religious factions who believe you should live your life as they see fit sex is headed back into the closet and open discussion of it will be a crime. Stores that have been around since the sixties, like the Pink Pussycat Boutique, openly catering to a curious public will be forced to close or operate underground.
