robotsOk so I was reading this article about Robots and how advanced they were becoming. But before you go’ is this another Terminator type story? No not really, but maybe a little, when the personal computer was invented and Windows came along. People believed it would make life easier and help make more jobs. Now they’re telling everybody the same thing Robotics will improve life and create jobs. They might be right at least for the time being but as robots become more able to human tasks, the fewer humans will be necessary. Instead of a hundred humans building a bunch of robots you’ll have one super robot watching other robots assembling robots. If you don’t think this is a possibility look at Detroit automation of assembly lines reduced employees but increased profits. Ah there you that magic word profits you know the one where the company doesn’t care about anything else. Companies aren’t interested in the fact that if nobody’s working for them there will be nobody to buy their products. You know the reason manufacturing and other jobs go overseas? Profits if it costs less to manufacture or make a call from another country that doesn’t have labor or environmental restrictions then that’s what a company is going to do. Now we bring robots into the equation where you now have manufacturing without worrying about employee fatigue or benefits, and guess what? No more human workers. Pretty poor outlook isn’t it. Well I think I’ve pretty well depressed everyone now so this is Flounder saying CIAO from Medellin, Colombia.

DON’T BE CRUEL

August 13, 2014

1843608840_cruel_answer_2_xlargeYou remember when you were a kid and somebody said something mean to? You would go home and tell your mom and she would say “Sticks and stones may break your bones but word can never hurt you.” Well that’s not really true in today’s world. All you have to do is read the news and you’ll see what I’m talking about. It would seem that one thing people have learned to do on the internet is what is called character assassination. That means if I post something really negative about you that are not true; by the time you can reply or take it down its too late. Kids have found this out and use as a new way of bullying others. Adults use to make people lives miserable and the sad thing is they think it’s funny. The latest example of this is Robin Williams Daughter Zelda. The comments that were sent to her made her quit her Twitter account because they were causing so much anguish. There must be something wrong in the human gene pool for this kind of behavior to manifest it’s self when people are grieving over the loss of a parent or child. As always when I post things like this I don’t have an answer that would be legal. All I can do as a cat is hope that Karma catches up to these people and they realize what ass holes they are. MORK IS GONE

August 12, 2014

morkYesterday it was announced that the comedian actor Robin Williams had died of apparent suicide. Jeff was very upset by this Mr. Williams had been one of the few people that always made him laugh and was also a great actor. So this morning he was reading memorials to Mr. Williams and he came across one by Jim Norton. In his piece Mr. Norton says a lot of the funniest people are some of the saddest people. This got Jeff to thinking about all the celebrities who have left us to early when it appeared that they had everything to live for. One that comes to mind was a man Named Audie Murphy a veteran of World War II and one of the most decorated soldiers in history. He made a couple of movies but never made it ig and he was never a happy man. Then there were the comedians W C Fields, Richard Pryor, Freddie Prince, and Lenny Bruce. They may not of all committed suicide but their lives were never happy and they fought Alcohol and drug addictions. Then you have music stars Billy Holliday, Janice Joplin, Jim Morrison, Momma Cass Elliot, Ricky Nelson, Gerry Garcia and of Course Elvis. While the rest of sit around and wish for a lot of what these people had they were never happy and most ended their own lives either on purpose or by being so addicted they never knew what happened. Jeff and I both find this to be sad and we wonder if they ever realized the positive effect they had on millions of people. Maybe they did and that proved too much for them. Well Heaven has a great Rock and Roll band and the Comedy hour is probably censured but boy what a show it must be. This is Flounder saying CIAO from Medellin Colombia

I CARE

August 11, 2014

nobody-cares-001-jpegWell here I am did you miss me? Jeff has been busy with his trains, book editing and writing so he hasn’t had time to help me post anything. To be truthful there hasn’t been a lot to talk about except war and corruption. But I did want to write about this: since the first conflict between humans they have left behind to things, discarded weapons and soldiers. It seems fine to force or convince men and women to fight an enemy that might or might not be a real threat. The real problems star after the battles when the soldiers return and are wounded both physically and psychologically. Because the battles are over the governments have no use for men that can no longer fight or have the lost the desire for war. In the modern world the weapons left behind on the battlefields continue to kill and maim for tens of years later. People are still finding munitions from the revolution to our current conflicts. They find after some innocent child or adult picks up or steps on what they think is something harmless and it blows of a limb or kills them. Billions of dollars are used to create weapons and recruit soldiers. But a few million are used to treat the veterans who willing went out there to do their duty for their country whether it was justified or not. They believed they were defending those who couldn’t defend themselves. The world needs a new set of priorities. If it’s necessary to go to war, as I believe World War Two was, then they must take care of those who gave a limb or part of their sanity to do their Governments bidding. Not only that we need to clean the ordinance still lying around, so that children can play without fear. Jeff’s Nieces are always posting articles about this and they contribute money and sometimes time to these causes. Jeff and I live in a country still littered with mines from a fifty year old conflict we can see homeless ex soldiers wondering the streets picking thru garbage or with their hand out. Jeff saw this in the US as well. Now the question is similar to Pink Floyds IS ANYBODY OUT THERE GOING TO CARE? This is Flounder and I care saying CIAO from Medellin, Colombia.

ANNIVERSERY PRESENT

August 6, 2014

DSC00148Well yesterday was Jeff and Ruby’s ten year anniversary as man and wife (I’ve been around longer). They didn’t do much just relaxed and then they decided to go to the US for vacation. They plan on being in the New York area from Dec. 3 to Dec. 16 then it’s on to Disney world till the return date of Dec. 20. They will be traveling with Ruby’s son and his wife as well as the grand kid. A lot of the time in New York will be without them they are going on to Boston. They better make sure somebody comes by to feed me every day and give me an occasional scratch and they better dam well clean my litter box every day or the house will not look good when they return. I guess they’ll let everybody know what their exact plans are in the next couple of months. But the trip is booked now all they have to do is figure out how to pay for it. I have to do some planning of my own so this is Flounder saying CIAO from Medellin, Colombia.

ANOTHER DAY

August 4, 2014

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAYou know this blog was supposed to be all about me and my adventures but somewhere along the line it got away from that. Mainly because as I get older I just lay around and sleep 17, 18 hours a day. so there’s not much happening in my life right now I’m content, I basically got it made. If I wasn’t something I just cry a little and now even ruby, Jeff’s wife, will give me a little scratch or a piece of chicken. So don’t get upset with me or the blog it’s just I’m living la Vida La loca. Well that’s it for a Monday Jeff might be back later today in the mean time this is Flounder saying CIAO from Medellin, Colombia.

PEOPLE WALK THROUGH THE RUBBLE OF THE PROPHET YOUNIS MOSQUE AFTER IT WAS DESTROYED IN A BOMB ATTACK BY MILITANTS OF THE ISLAMIC STATE, FORMERLY KNOWN AS ISIL, IN THE CITY OF MOSULMy niece, whom I consider far more intelligent than me, recently posted an article saying Gaza the End of Civilization. That got me thinking about how we destroy our past. My first recollection of this comes from Lebanon when there was a civil war and the beautiful city of Beirut was reduced to piles of rock. The next big instance that I remember was the Taliban. After coming to power they destroyed stone Buda’s and other artifacts that had been around for thousands of years. Now we have the Tomb of Jonah destroyed in Irag. But not only are they destroying the past they are killing children which are our future. The one that are not killed are becoming so poisoned by hate that I fear the cycle of destruction will continue. I wish my niece would have written this post she is far more an elegant writer then I. I wish we could just make all this stop, but I fear it will continue till we are extinct. This is Flounder saying CIAO from Medellin, Colombia

55555555555Well it time to rant a little; there are draughts in western and southwestern United States, Colombia, and China as well as other countries. Not all of this is from El Nino. California’s is from fifteen years of below average rain fall and mismanagement of it resources. The sad truth is that with climate change and population growth the world is running out of fresh water. The solutions are not pleasant first conservation, second stop development in rural areas, third and this is the one that will have everybody screaming control population growth. The first is relatively easy the second a little harder the third a bitch. As you know for years I’ve been saying that when a developer goes before a planning board and want to build he has to tell them about sewage, garbage impact on environment etc. But he isn’t required to tell them where the fresh water is coming from. The town and the water provider estimate the impact on their supply and no matter what they come up with they usually give their approval. Now if I was big into organized crime like the Mafia or the Drug Cartels I would look into taking over the business of supplying water. They would have more influence than if they bought the entire Congress. Because without water we die it supplies are physical needs as well as food and power. People say well we could convert sea water to fresh water. Yes we could but that would either increase or decrease the salt content of our oceans upsetting the delicate balance there and killing of a source of food for most of the world. So what’s the best solution I go with population control it would just help with the water problem it would help with all natural resources. It’s funny when humans think of animal over population they go for neutering but when you talk about over population of humans they want to destroy the planet. Well this has made me depressed so I’m going to take a nap this is Flounder saying CIAO from Medellin, Colombia.

WOO WOO

July 29, 2014

xxxxxxxxxxxxSorry there was no post yesterday but Jeff is busy trying to build a model railroad. It particularly hard down here because no one sells accessories so he either has to wait till he has money and order from Amazon since they’re the only ones willing to deliver to Colombia. He’s in the final stages of building the table today. If it doesn’t fall apart again I’ll post first stage picture tomorrow. Jeff is also trying to reedit his book Death Comes Home. He found that the original was somewhat corrupted and is trying to figure out how. He finally got his Magic Jack account paid and wants to talk to some of his friends as well and of course you know we’re bot hold so we to take naps every now and then. So if you don’t see a post don’t worry as soon as we get our routine down we’ll be back to normal. In the mean time everything is cool hope everybody is well. HERE COMES THE WEEKEND

July 25, 2014

Friday-2Well it the end of the week and I guess everybody is looking forward to the weekend, so why don’t we take a look back at the week and what went on. There were three plane crashes this week. Actually only two were crashes the other one was shot down close to six hundred people lost their lives. Then we have the southwest United States and the western part of Colombia threatening to dry up and blow away. Things don’t look to improve until sometime in 2015. Oh and Israel is invading somebody and the result is schools being blown up and children being killed. Don’t you just love a good war? Arizona botched an execution it took ten hours for a scumbag to die. In California prisoners are suing because they don’t like the idea of prisoners of all the same ethnicity being kept together during lock down. I guess they’d rather have Black prisoners kept with skin heads. Well aren’t you glad the weekend is here this is Flounder saying CIAO from Medellin, Colombia.
