10259884_10203539987124835_781715931543537504_n This is our last post before we head out to the USA for seventeen days of vacation. I decided to do a rant about Colombia’s leadership since I really didn’t have anything else to write about. About a week ago the rebels (Farc) kidnapped a US counter intelligence trained Colombian General. He was the first ever General kidnapped. The group that dir it was supposedly close to the drug cartels. Well they released him and three other people taken at the same time on this Past Sunday. The General has been forced to resign because he was travelling in a dangerous area and not in uniform. This after he had spent his entire captivity handcuffed or chained to a tree and threatened with death all of which are the international treaties. Now Santos has immediately sent his negotiators back to Cuba to continue peace talks. Why doesn’t he just bend over and kiss the FARCs ass I mean they kidnap a General kill a few policemen every once in awhile and blow up oil line every week. But he still wants to deal with what is estimated to be 5500 rebels, most of who are working for the Cartels. If it wasn’t for the disruption of the oil fields or the gold mining he wouldn’t give a shit. His attitude stinks of Peace at any cost and I’m sorry but this country has been fucked over enough. Now I am by no means saying war is a good thing but if you’re in the majority you should be able to negotiate from a position of strength or at least equality not weakness like President Santos. I’ll probably get a lot of shit for this post but I kind of like it here and hate to see these hard working people get screwed by a bunch of rich aristocratic politicians. Hey that sounds familiar doesn’t it America. This is Flounder (counting the minutes till the party begins) saying CIAO from Medellin, Colombia.

Cellphone_TheftWell you know how I like to talk about stuff and cell phones are stuff. I just read an article that said in Colombia last year 3 million cell phones were stolen. That works out to something like 8000 a day. Yup you read it right 8000 a day. Now to combat that the Government specifically President Santos wants to ban the import and export of used cell phones. I don’t think that will pass and I don’t think that will work if it does. But the bigger question is what are they really doing with those 3 million stolen cell phones? Do you think they’re stealing info they don’t have to steal the phone to do that? They can just walk by you and clone your phone and get all the info they want. If you think people in America are obsessed with their phones you should see people down here. If they have to go someplace that doesn’t allow cell phone usage they’re almost in a panic and as soon as they get out on goes the phone and they’re texting away. I think I’ve said this before I have a cell phone that’s strictly for emergencies. The people that are texting all the time have limited plans. If you make calls you need to buy minutes because most people can’t afford calling plans or don’t think they’re worth the money. In essence most phones in Colombia are pay as you go yet you must register the phone when you buy it. One thing I’ll tell you is that a cell phone is the biggest big brother tool in the Governments arsenal of spying. They all contain a GPS chip that will locate you to within feet. The cell phone social media are just tools that keep us from interacting on a truly personal basis. Well weekend is here and tomorrow I will actually post something about Jeff and his trains and there will be picture to show his progress. This is Flounder saying CIAO from Medellin, Colombia.

ELECTION TIME

May 23, 2014

candidates2Sorry I’m late Jeff was at the dentist this morning. Sunday is Election Day in Colombia there are five people running for President. This has to be one of the biggest jokes in election that I’ve ever seen. The two leading candidate’s president Santos and Oscar Zuluago who is backed by former president Uribe are accusing each other of criminal actions. Zuluago was first up accusing Santos of taking a bribe from the mafia to stop an extradition. Santos came back accusing Oscar of having a hacker spy on the peace talks as well as reading Santos’s emails. Oscar says it’s a setup and the video that Santos is showing is a montage of others. Santos also today accused Uribe of being friends with paramilitary groups. Now first if Uribe was I fact talking to paramilitary groups when he was President Santos as his defense minister would have been aware if in fact he didn’t help set up the talks. If a hacker did in fact hack president Santos or the peace talks while an employee of Oscars election committee it’s a pretty good bet Oscar knew about it. Earlier this year the military was accused of hacking emails and spying on the peace talks. Colombians have choices to make this Sunday 1, they can choose to satyr home and not vote 2, they pick one of the two leaders and vote for them 3, they can do what is called cast a white vote which means they don’t like any of the candidates 4’ or do what I would do if I could vote down here vote for one of the other three candidates and tell the other two to screw. Well that my opinion but what do I know I’m a cat thei is Flounder saying CIAO from Medellin Colombia.
