9/11
September 11, 2012
Sept 11 a day that will be remembered by our generation like Dec 7 is remembered by the last generation .Let’s hope that this time we have finally learned our lesson that there are people out there that want nothing more than to destroy our way of life, to make us want to hide at the sound of an airplane or the sound of fireworks. Let’s not let this happen to anyone else anywhere in the world remember all the pictures of Pearl Harbor and New York City, Pittsburg and Washington DC, remember those pictures but don’t let them control your life. The people that did these things want to destroy our will to survive as a free people they want to take from us that feeling of comfort we have when we open our front door and look out at the city or country we love and enjoy, they wish to take that enjoyment away from us. Our government in its desire to protect us is actually doing what they couldn’t do tacking away our sense of freedom and privacy. Those that are doing this aren’t trying to implement a “Big Brother is Watching” society but they are whether they want to or not. We can only hope that those that are in charge of our security remember what this nation is all about Freedom to work as we want to go where we want and to worship as we want. So on this day remember those that died and have died not only as victims of a terror attack but those who died trying to save lives and those that have died sense trying to keep us safe, as a cat having the pleasure of being raised in America I say God Bless those people CIAO.
SUN and RAIN
September 10, 2012
OK its Monday right now the sun is shining as it was at sunset last night (see photo) less than two hours later violent lightening could be seen on the try to get over the mountains, about four hours later it succeeded. Parts of Antioquia were hit by tornados in Medellin we got violent thunderstorms and heave rain and wind, other parts of the country are suffering from drought the accompanying fires and water shortages. I’ve been up for 2 ½ hours and the sky has gone from looking like immediate rain to sunny to partly cloudy the weather changes so fast down here it’s hard to make outdoor plans. Getting back to the drought areas it seems that all countries suffer from the same thing when building a development their main concern is sewage and they plan water use for normal conditions. Then later some developer says lets tear down these small buildings and build new ones that are bigger and will hold more people. This is a good idea in principle because it brings people closer to the services that they need unfortunately those services never grow as fast as the need. Add to that increased stress on the water system throw in a period of unusual heat and lack of rain over planting and some other things and guess what you have a recipe for disaster. I watched as the northeast US went through a long drought really severe for two years I saw reservoirs turn into mud puddles it started to get really scary looking and they got lucky a hurricane came and broke the drought reservoirs filled almost immediately and sense the heat was gone the stress on the system was eased it still took time for the area to recover most produce prices remained higher than they were prior to the drought. Now both the US and Colombia are going threw another bad time extreme weather in the form of either too much or not enough are hitting both countries in there agriculture belts and prices are beginning to go up again. In the US the drought is in the Midwest so they can’t depend on hurricane rains to help relieve it they have to wait for winter and hope it brings rain to the farm lands and snow to the mountain for the spring runoff. In Colombia they pray for rain not the violent type we just had but more gentle so it will be absorbed by the ground that needs it. I believe that somewhere along the line we pissed off Mother Nature and now it’s payback time, we can only hope she decides to have mercy on us and that we’ve learned our lesson CIAO.
Just a Saturday
September 8, 2012
Welcome to Saturday no headlines today just that Colombia beat Uruguay in a World Cup qualifier yesterday and the US lost to Jamaica (and that really sucks). The sun is shining it’s 9:30 am down here I guess it’s 10am on the east coast,, we don’t need daylight savings time down here. The sun rises and sets just about the same time all year long. Next Saturday is Valentine’s Day down here so Jeff and the boys need to go shopping soon or there could be trouble in paradise. There are no plans today beyond everyone going to watch Hari at music class, where he usually just sits and watches then gets home and starts singing. I think Jeff is getting mad at me because I wake him up every morning around 6:30, it’s not my fault Ruby gets up that early and wakes me so I think it’s time for Jeff to get up too. I guess I better stay up late tonight so I’ll sleep a little later tomorrow morning. That having been said I think a nap is order now CIAO.
Colombian News
September 7, 2012
Well we’ve been doing new from the US and we think it’s time to do some about Colombia. The big story the one they spend most of the New Cast on is about negotiations between the Government and the rebel’s forces known as the Farc. It’s our opinion that this isn’t a good idea. In recent weeks the Farc has been very active in the Cauca (not sure if I spelt that right) attacking power lines rural police stations and civilian targets in most cases innocent lives are the most affected. They have only once attacked a military target and that was when they ambushed a patrol and killed twelve soldiers most of what they do is related to protecting the narco traffickers. The United States has declared the Farc to be a terrorist group, so you know they won’t be part of the negotiations. I don’t believe there’s a leader that can speak for the rebel’s that are acting as criminals and these criminals have relieved the same training and weapons as the rebels, making them the equal of the army and police. It would also appear that these weapons and training are coming from Venezuela and Cuba. It would also appear that Venezuela is offering safe haven for both. President Santos when he was the minister of defense dealt sever blows to the rebel forces on a military level I don’t know what has happened to change the situation in such a way as to make him want to negotiate instead. I will keep my friends up north apprised of the happening s down here as well as my usual sarcastic look at American news Flounder has left the building CIAO.
Just some news
September 6, 2012
Like they used to say on Saturday Night live “all the news that’s fit to print and some that’s not” Ok here we go Clinton whips up crowd at DNC ( bet you that’s not the only thing he whipped) , California bank robbed bomb strapped to manager ( I think there will be a few job vacancies at the managerial level in the banking Business),US to look like Greece in 2021(first we have to build a coliseum then age it and then have a lot of naked women running around are senate, wait a minute we already have that one), Tearful Roddick says goodbye (nothing funny here he will be missed), and my final story of the day Man swallows 14k diamond ( now that’s going to hurt hope he doesn’t have Hemorrhoids. You my first story about Bill Clinton made me start to think about how much people miss him, they don’t miss Bush Jr, they don’t miss Nixon, they don’t even remember Carter, but they miss good old Bill. He wasn’t a bad Pres he got a lot done he just couldn’t keep it in his pants, but as you look at Hillary can you blame him , he at least made his term interesting especially for those secret service guys who had to stand around and watch. Well that’s news and commentary for today CIAO.
WED NEWS
September 5, 2012

NEWS DAY
September 4, 2012
You know the thing about Blogging is there doesn’t seem to be an end to it; it just goes on and on and on with no end in sight well maybe that’s a good time will tell. Today is news day let’s see Heir to Red Bull arrested for hit and run (probably drank too much of his own product), Obama says Americans are better off than they were 4 years ago (somebody is always better off every 4 years), New Jersey man arrested for murder of sleeping kids ( why bother arresting him just hang him), Giant nude sculpture ( somehow this doesn’t strike me as news) and the final one for today Scientology auditions actress to be Tom Cruise’s girl friend (This religion makes Satanism seem normal) that’s the news for today. So listen a good friend of Jeff’s keeps complaining about the hic-cups says he’s tried everything with no result if anybody has a new cure let me know and I’ll forward it to Darren. The birds didn’t come around this morning or I got up to late so I’m going to go sulk on the bed CIAO.
CHILLIN
September 3, 2012
Yesterday was a chill day after being out late to watch the soccer Nacional won 3-0 in a badly played game, thank god Barcelona was on espn in the afternoon so Jeff got to watch some good soccer. The only good thing about Saturday was being able to hang out with the family Hader was there with Catalina and the kids, Nacho, Olga and Camilo were there and John, Vanessa and Hari, and of Jeff’s favorite El Jefe, so that part was fun. Watching the game was tedious, boring and masochistic and then Medellin actually quit with time still on the clock Jeff say at that point they probably couldn’t have won but they could have at least tried to score a goal. No professional team should ever lay down and quit while there is still time on the clock to Jeff it’s an act of betrayal to the fans who paid money to see them play 90 min. In America the crowd would have booed and maybe gotten rowdy but watching it on TV it looked d like they were as resigned to be losers as much as the players were. Jeff is going to pick up his new glasses tonight maybe there won’t be so many mistakes to correct in these posts after he does. I think that covers it foe now it’s early and maybe something will happen and I’ll be back till then CIAO.
FOOTBALL IS HERE
September 1, 2012
Football Saturday and my Nephew Bill played his first football game last night don’t have results yet but if you look at him (he’s no 71) and then look at those around him it just doesn’t look fair. The other picture up there is of his grandfather and my brother Bill a lot of Bills in the family My nephew, his father, and his grandfather. His grandfather was 6` 4 ¾ inches tall and weighed 215 pounds and believe me he would break down his height to the hundredth of an inch if they would let him. My nephew is around 6` 5“ and looks to be bigger than his grandfather he bigger than his father, must be all that mountain air. Anyhow we’re trying to find a place to watch what they call the classic down here Medellin vs Nacional that always fun to watch the brothers root against each other. Well as soon as my niece wakes up and puts some pictures and the score up on Facebook I’ll be back for now CIAO.
