MORK IS GONE
August 12, 2014
Yesterday it was announced that the comedian actor Robin Williams had died of apparent suicide. Jeff was very upset by this Mr. Williams had been one of the few people that always made him laugh and was also a great actor. So this morning he was reading memorials to Mr. Williams and he came across one by Jim Norton. In his piece Mr. Norton says a lot of the funniest people are some of the saddest people. This got Jeff to thinking about all the celebrities who have left us to early when it appeared that they had everything to live for. One that comes to mind was a man Named Audie Murphy a veteran of World War II and one of the most decorated soldiers in history. He made a couple of movies but never made it ig and he was never a happy man. Then there were the comedians W C Fields, Richard Pryor, Freddie Prince, and Lenny Bruce. They may not of all committed suicide but their lives were never happy and they fought Alcohol and drug addictions. Then you have music stars Billy Holliday, Janice Joplin, Jim Morrison, Momma Cass Elliot, Ricky Nelson, Gerry Garcia and of Course Elvis. While the rest of sit around and wish for a lot of what these people had they were never happy and most ended their own lives either on purpose or by being so addicted they never knew what happened. Jeff and I both find this to be sad and we wonder if they ever realized the positive effect they had on millions of people. Maybe they did and that proved too much for them. Well Heaven has a great Rock and Roll band and the Comedy hour is probably censured but boy what a show it must be. This is Flounder saying CIAO from Medellin Colombia
I CARE
August 11, 2014
Well here I am did you miss me? Jeff has been busy with his trains, book editing and writing so he hasn’t had time to help me post anything. To be truthful there hasn’t been a lot to talk about except war and corruption. But I did want to write about this: since the first conflict between humans they have left behind to things, discarded weapons and soldiers. It seems fine to force or convince men and women to fight an enemy that might or might not be a real threat. The real problems star after the battles when the soldiers return and are wounded both physically and psychologically. Because the battles are over the governments have no use for men that can no longer fight or have the lost the desire for war. In the modern world the weapons left behind on the battlefields continue to kill and maim for tens of years later. People are still finding munitions from the revolution to our current conflicts. They find after some innocent child or adult picks up or steps on what they think is something harmless and it blows of a limb or kills them. Billions of dollars are used to create weapons and recruit soldiers. But a few million are used to treat the veterans who willing went out there to do their duty for their country whether it was justified or not. They believed they were defending those who couldn’t defend themselves. The world needs a new set of priorities. If it’s necessary to go to war, as I believe World War Two was, then they must take care of those who gave a limb or part of their sanity to do their Governments bidding. Not only that we need to clean the ordinance still lying around, so that children can play without fear. Jeff’s Nieces are always posting articles about this and they contribute money and sometimes time to these causes. Jeff and I live in a country still littered with mines from a fifty year old conflict we can see homeless ex soldiers wondering the streets picking thru garbage or with their hand out. Jeff saw this in the US as well. Now the question is similar to Pink Floyds IS ANYBODY OUT THERE GOING TO CARE? This is Flounder and I care saying CIAO from Medellin, Colombia.
ANNIVERSERY PRESENT
August 6, 2014
Well yesterday was Jeff and Ruby’s ten year anniversary as man and wife (I’ve been around longer). They didn’t do much just relaxed and then they decided to go to the US for vacation. They plan on being in the New York area from Dec. 3 to Dec. 16 then it’s on to Disney world till the return date of Dec. 20. They will be traveling with Ruby’s son and his wife as well as the grand kid. A lot of the time in New York will be without them they are going on to Boston. They better make sure somebody comes by to feed me every day and give me an occasional scratch and they better dam well clean my litter box every day or the house will not look good when they return. I guess they’ll let everybody know what their exact plans are in the next couple of months. But the trip is booked now all they have to do is figure out how to pay for it. I have to do some planning of my own so this is Flounder saying CIAO from Medellin, Colombia.
ANOTHER DAY
August 4, 2014
You know this blog was supposed to be all about me and my adventures but somewhere along the line it got away from that. Mainly because as I get older I just lay around and sleep 17, 18 hours a day. so there’s not much happening in my life right now I’m content, I basically got it made. If I wasn’t something I just cry a little and now even ruby, Jeff’s wife, will give me a little scratch or a piece of chicken. So don’t get upset with me or the blog it’s just I’m living la Vida La loca. Well that’s it for a Monday Jeff might be back later today in the mean time this is Flounder saying CIAO from Medellin, Colombia.
