“The measure of achievement is not winning awards. It’s doing something that you appreciate, something you believe is worthwhile.” – Julia Child

Every once in a while I get asked how come it’s called flounders great adventure and not Antonia’s great adventure. Well, there was a flounder he was a Tuxedo cat that I adopted many years ago. Flounder was with me for 19 and a half years. His great adventure was moving to Colombia and he enjoyed it. He started the Blog Flounders great adventure by telling about Colombia’s history and what we did every day. After a while, we decided to do it once a week. Flounder like Antonia sits by my side while I try to write something you’ll like. Flounder got sick one day and after a year of fighting it, I decided he needed to go to rest. I still have his first toy and the first Blog we wrote together. I also was given a cast of his footprint. He got to meet Antonia and they were actually friends, it was Antonia that recognized the end was near for Flounder. We will keep the title for the blog and his Facebook page for a while longer because I still miss him very much, don’t get me wrong Antonia is a real help with the blog so long as she’s not snoring. She’s a great companion on our walks every day. She is adopted and is not young she’s 11 we think she is also crazy. She is a Labradoodle, which is half Lab and half Poodle. They do that so she doesn’t shed or cause allergic reactions. So if you ever decide you want a pet go to your nearest shelter and adopt one, get an older one and they will be so grateful they’ll love you very much. This is FATS, the Spirit of Flounder, and our friend ANTONIA saying CIAO from Medellin Colombia.

The Republican party didn’t just wake up one day and decide it was the party of WHITE SUPREMACISTS and SUPPRESSORS of WOMEN’S RIGHTS. This has been going on forever. Donald Trump allowed them to come out of the shadows and show their true colors. He gave them a voice and in doing so might have doomed democracy. They have put light on our deficiency in education and humanity. We can’t blame Trump for all of it he didn’t understand or care what was happening since he only cares about himself. Our young people have no one to look up to except fictional characters, for whatever reason they choose the violent ones. We let the TV News show riots and criminals being set free but ban cartoons like Road Runner and the Coyote and movies like Bambi as being too violent for children. When I say like these and kids should be allowed to see them I’m called a Liberal asshole. Kids and young adults aren’t given enough examples to help them make their own decisions. Instead, we hammer at them what we think is right and wrong. Then depending on where they live and how much time the parents actually spend listening to them and that’s important listening to them. Maybe they get it right. That rarely happens today because parents are too busy blaming everybody else for their lot in life. They don’t see that their kids need help and I don’t mean shrinks or punishment they need a constructive conversation with the people they love and respect. I got all that from my mom and as far as I can tell I made all the right decisions. This is FATS and ANTONIA saying CIAO from Medellin Colombia.
