July fourth is not a holiday in Colombia and this will mark Jeff’s first fourth without fireworks, but he could always start an argument with Ruby and then you’d really see some fireworks. Jeff and Ruby went to the Bank early this morning to do their monthly thing, now the bank is the Poplano section of Medellin this is where you go if you want to buy a Porsche or Mercedes. So you get the picture it’s an area that’s got some money, well on the way back they were at the Metro station getting an Empanada for breakfast when Jeff looked up at these young guys setting under a tree, they were lighting up what in America would be called a fat boy, that’s a big joint to those unfamiliar with the term. Marijuana is illegal I Colombia but you can walk down the street with a bale on your shoulder and you probably won’t get stopped, it’s one of those laws that cost too much to enforce. It’s similar to America if you look like a nice guy they won’t bother you if you look sneaky like a dealer they’ll arrest you. Well Jeff thought they were just celebrating America’s birthday so he gave them a smile and a wave.
