ALL ABOUT ME
June 20, 2012
It seems to me you guys like it when Jeff and I talk about family, you already know how Jeff feels about his family and me so I thought today would be all about me. For those of you who didn’t follow me exploits last month when I was celebrating my 12 birthday (which is about 67 human years) Let me start by saying I stared out abandoned by my parents and left to fend for myself in the parking lot of Brendan arena out in a part of New Jersey called the Meadowlands. Those of you who either watched the Sopranos on HBO or like crime stories about the Mafia know that this used to be a favorite area for burying people that you didn’t want to be found again it is rumored that a famed union leader, Jimmy Hoffa, is buried in the end zone of the football stadium. This could have been my fate if hadn’t been for a very famous hockey player named Martin Brodeur who found me and took me to a shelter where I was adopted by some nice people but back then I was not nice I bit and clawed my way back to another shelter and then adopted again with the same result. I’m not sure how I ended up in a shelter in Hanover (Mt. Pleasant Animal Shelter) but I’m glad I did. Jeff had seen my picture on the internet and came looking for me. I knew he was special when he walked in all the guys wanted to play with him but he saw me and came over and rubbed me stomach I was in my nice mood he also looked at a big white cat Sebastian and we were all taken in the get acquainted room. I became unnice and ripped the attendants arm and then Jeff’s when he picked me up. I was sure he wasn’t going to take me and I would be allowed to go back to my friends in the cat room, but no Jeff was stubborn he was convinced we would become best friends so he ended up with both of us. I spent the first six months living in his closet and wouldn’t let anyone touch me finally I came out but it was still hands off Sebastian was the friendly one and I was sure I was headed back to the shelter. Then came Ruby to live with us I really love Ruby but she hates me wants me to live outside, I relay can’t blame her she has allergies. We had to part company with Sebastian because of her allergies he was far more adoptable than me; I hope he’s as happy as I am now. Eventually I gave up being the tuff guy and now I’m just a lovable old cat who still likes to sleep near Ruby at night, she won’t let me get that close when she’s awake, and we’re getting ready to celebrate on e year in Colombia. Yup it’s been an exciting life and I wouldn’t change a thing here’s hoping we all have a lot of years left. Just so you know this post is all me Jeff didn’t have anything to do with it I’ll talk to you guy later CIAO.
Just a word or two
June 19, 2012
Well Jeff just read on Yahoo that the retired national police chief of Colombia, considered to be one of the best for his handling of the drug cartels, is in Mexico and thinking about being an advisor to this Presidential candidate if he gets elected. Well that’s something I would do because in Mexico the drug gangs are much more powerful then the Colombian cartel were when he took over and their much more violent. Beside in Colombia he made deals with paramilitary groups that were fighting the drug dealers, of course after Escobar was killed they were told they weren’t needed any more so some went to fight for the Farc and others started protecting the drug dealers. He did manage to stop the forming of large cartels and keep the drug traffickers in smaller more manageable gangs but there still sending cocaine to America. I thought that most of the candidates in Mexico were going to push for legalization of drugs as a solution to the violence. That sounds good except that the country that the drugs are going to (America) isn’t about to legalize them so there would still be smuggling and the violence would continue, not only that the US would stop giving them money to fight drugs probably remove the Favorite nation status and seal the border with a Berlin type wall. There is really no easy or guaranteed solution for the rug problem in the world you may stop it on place but it will jump someplace else or their will be a new drug to take the place of the old ones. Some of the smartest people in the world have tried to come with solutions to this problem but it remains and will continue to do so in one form or another as long as people exist. If you think you have an idea how to stop this put it in a comment for this post and we’ll discuss it next time Ciao.

First I would like to thank everyone for their kind words about our Father’ day post second there are some photos on Facebook and I’ll also post them at the end of today’s blog. So yesterday Jeff experienced one of the worst thunderstorms he’s ever had the displeasure to be in unfortunately we couldn’t get any picture because it was raining to hard and the lightning was very dangerous as a matter of fact one bolt hit very close to where they were and another exploded overhead scaring everyone, this is time I’m glad they left me home. The storms did not deter anyone from having a great time celebrating Fathers day and having a lot of laughs and good food. The outdoor pictures that you see are shortly after the storms passed the weather down here as I’ve said before can change in a heartbeat. Ruby’s dad Manuel or El Jefe as Jeff likes to call him was having a great time with all his loved ones around. You only see this kind of family gathering at reunions in the US but down here everyone gets together for just about anything and at anytime no matter what they may have to that day (Nelida and Hader had to work later) they put in an appearance have a couple of beers and then go do what they have to do. Ruby loves it, it was about 12 years sense she had time to visit and be visited by all her family and Jeff simply adores Hari and his father in-law El Jefe even though he hasn’t a clue to what he’s saying. Well enough family stuff for now tomorrow we’ll maybe talk some politics Ciao.
Fathers Day 2012
June 16, 2012
Welcome to Saturday I’m going to make this my Father’s day post because we’re going to be very busy tomorrow visiting John and El Jefe. I know Jeff has nieces that are sad today but he wishes to me to tell you two that your father is very proud of you and how you’ve grown up and conducted your lives. Kim you have a wonderful husband and two great kids and you have made a great home for them. Janet you work to hard but you seem to happy Jeff knows your father wishes you’d take it easy but he knows it’s not in your make up. You girls just remember your father still watches over you with tons of pride knowing he and your mom raised you with all the right values and your uncle Jeff is just as proud and so glad that your part of his life. So to end this before everyone starts crying I’m glad Jeff found me and I got to know a little about you guys ad even though I’ve never met you all I wish you a wonderful FATHERS DAY and for now Ciao.
TGIF
June 15, 2012
TGIF everybody the weekend is finally here Jeff and Ruby will be shopping tonight chilling tomorrow and going to El Jefe’s house to celebrate father’s day on Sunday. There’s nothing really happening in the news everyone know Chavez is officially running for president of Venezuela the only problem with that he’s starting believe he’s a god kind of makes him a little dangerous besides being crazy. The soccer fans are watching the Euro league and there’s some pretty good soccer being played there but it is unusual to see stars playing on team you’re not use to seeing like Messier he’s play for Argentina instead of Barcelona and so on. As usual the sun is shining to start the weekend off also Monday is a holiday ain’t this country great. Jeff moved the location of me food the other day and I’m still trying to deal with that I don’t why he can’t just leave things be. Well time for me to enjoy some of that sun CIAO.
THE RIVER
June 14, 2012
Jeff was sitting in the waiting area at the dentist last night waiting for Ruby to come out and there was this spectacular view out the window of the sunset. He said he didn’t know what caused it but the clouds formed a rainbow effect over the mountains, now Jeff thought it was wonderful but the rest of the people in the waiting room ignored it which is symptomatic of one of the big problems in Colombia. People take nature for granted and pollute the great resources they have. An example of this is the Medellin River that runs along the metro tracks threw Medellin and Bello as well as other stops on the railroad. People have told Jeff that the beginning of the river is a beautiful spot with clear water and clean shoreline. Well that may be but when the river gets to Medellin it turns muddy brown and as you get closer to Bello you begin to see mounds of garbage in the middle of the river and a shore line covered in garbage as well as unidentified liquids of various colors draining into the river. Jeff says he’s never seen pollution this bad and it makes him sad because it seems the people don’t care and don’t realize that clean water will eventually become harder and harder to find. He’s heard that they want to clean up the river but he thinks unless they first change the culture of the people living next to the river and get them to stop dumping in it and make some tougher environmental laws they’ll never clean it up. This is a truly beautiful country but if the people don’t start protecting it: it might just turn into one large garbage dump. Well as always it’s time for me to get of my soapbox and take a nap CIAO.
Another rainy Wedensday
June 13, 2012
Another rainy Wednesday, I guess I really can’t be too upset it has been nice down here for the last few days. Let’s see now what’s going on I see on the news there are a lot of people in Bogota upset by the cities plan to implement odd and even license plate driving days. It all looks really confusing I think they tried it for awhile in Medellin with very little success apparently it puts a lot of stress on the police, but if you look at the traffic in the morning you would probably make better time walking so I guess they have to do something. Also on the news front there are a lot of demonstrations against violence against women which I think is a problem down here. But if you want to stop violence against women you should also make prostitution illegal or confine it to certain areas so that the women can be protected and given health care, personally I think they should just make it illegal and then really enforce the law. Have you noticed how little interest there is in the NBA finals I think the seasons to long? Jeff says that when he was younger the various sports had their own seasons of there was a little overlap but not like now where nobody cares about the NBA or Hockey till the end of January and then they stop caring when the weather gets warm it’s like football yes it’s the no one spectator sport in the US but nobody gets excited until the weather cools off. At least in Colombia the weather is the same year round so soccer is a year round sport, they also love Tennis and other summer sports around the world where they have a local player competing. They love some gut named Solano who plays baseball they love their Tennis players and they’ll be excited by the Olympics until they have no left competing (they actually have some very good people competing this time around). Well that’s all the news I have for today until next time Ciao.

Well they went to the ecological park and Jeff was somewhat disappointed there were just too many people to get really good pictures of the river it seems that the people use it as a water park. Ruby loves the place but that’s not a bad thing when you can get away from the people it’s really a beautiful place plus Ruby remembers coming here when she was young with her family. The people camp along the river and cook Sancocho which was cool except for the smoke. I guess if they went there during the week when it wasn’t a holiday weekend it would have been nicer. But as you can see from the photos it’s still a beautiful spot to visit. That was about all that happened yesterday today is starting out overcast but down here that doesn’t mean anything the weather can change in minutes. I’m still enjoying my new litter box it’s nice when they give me something new shows they care. I don’t know if anything exciting will happen today if it does I’ll be back but in the mean time for those that don’t have Facebook here are some Pics CIAO.
Monday morning
June 11, 2012
Jeff and Ruby are going to an ecological tourist park this morning so I don’t have a lot of time to talk. Colombia lost to Ecuador 1-0 yesterday they will have one more chance to qualify for the 2014 world cup in a few months. There was one of those giant roaches in the bathroom this morning he was almost dead , I had fun playing with him last night, we need Larry the lizard to come back and police the area. Well Jeff has to run and take a shower to ready then of course he’ll have to wait a hour for Ruby to be ready so I have to stop now look for pictures and some comments first thing in the morning and for those of you that have Facebook there will be photos posted early this evening CIAO.

Get this John and Vanessa went to a SPA Saturday and I heard that John got a chocolate wrap, ARE YOU KIDDING ME a grown man gets a chocolate wrap what a wimp he went the Stadium for some soccer I hope he doesn’t ruin his pedicure. There are some things a man just should do. Anyhow Juan Pablo was here again last night it was cool he tried to beat up Jeff so Jeff tickled him into submission I was also told that the schools are closed down here for a month. Ruby just been going around saying MUY CALOR, I guess that means she’s hot. It is a little warm around here lately I don’t know if that’s normal for this time of year or not the humidity has also been high because Jeff walks around complaining about his arthritis he swears he can tell you when it’s going to rain. I don’t know what their plans are for the rest of the day and I really don’t care I just want to chill. I just saw this poll on yahoo asking if we think anybody is capable of bad behavior of course they are just ask any politician. You know they pay someone a lot of money to come with these questions to ask the general public either they’re stupid or think the rest of the world is stupid. Well that’s all I got this morning if anybody down here does anything special I’ll be back CIAO.
