POLITICS UGH

Our readers in Colombia are going to have to pardon me for a few minutes as I comment on a comment from Val. Val the Republican Party knows it can’t win the presidential election by arguing the normal issues. Now ‘m not saying Obama is the best president we could have but being the incumbent gives him a serious advantage. Now as far as their stand on women and the separation of church and state their just trying to appeal to those dissatisfied voters some of whom are racist. Although Jeff believes in democracy and the “American Way” he believes that the only way ting are going to improve in America is by a complete change of personal in the Senate and the House and by removing the power brokers from control, then and only then could we see a real change in energy policy and a possible slowing of global warming and less dependency on the Arab nations. Does Jeff see this happening not without a revolution I’m afraid and people are too afraid to disturb their status qua to try and make drastic changes that would require them to think. For my Colombian readers a lot of what Jeff has written can be said of your country to you just have to remember armed revolution has never turned out well in Latin America, but you do have the ability to do it politically. OK that enough real serious talk for the week end National play Medellin to night so that’s what we’ll talk about tomorrow Ciao.

A lot of people enjoyed the piece I had Jeff write about women yesterday so to keep it that vein here’s a little more. Do you that down here they’re trying to do a lot about the violence dune to women this isn’t just a Colombian problem it’s a world problem. Rape and spousal abuse are the most under reported crimes in the world. Why? Because in most places men control the law and think women who do come forward are doing it for other reasons than reporting an actual crime. Law enforcement in some parts of the world and the US has made great strides in getting women to testify, but in the US defense lawyers always try to make the woman look like it was her fault that she got raped or beat, in other parts of the world the police just ignore the complaint. Jeff and I believe that no women should ever have to put up with sexual or physical abuse we believe that no means no and that a spouse that hits his wife or child should sent to jail not to rehab. A man who does these things is a bully and a coward a woman shouldn’t have to run and hide from these people. A restraining order should restrain if a man is stalking a woman he needs to be stopped before he does something, in other words police and the courts need to be practice preventive rather than reactionary law. Well that’s it for me today remember respect and protect your women and women don’t you take any shit Ciao.
Today is INTERNATIONAL WOMAN’S DAY I really never paid attention to it because it was never a big thing in America but down here they make it special. I think it’s a pretty good thing considering how hard women work at their jobs and raising their families. In America we use secretaries day and Mothers day to celebrate women I think we should celebrate them every day, because they are always watching over us and supporting us and trying to make sure we do the right thing. Just look around and try to imagine life without women. Would there still be music art? Do you think we’d have Opera and ballet? Who would teach us how to sew and cook? Who keep the family together? All this and much more is the result having women in our lives. If you don’t believe this look at those who have lost the woman in their lives and how sad and lost they are I’m not talking just about Moms and Wives but friends and lovers they all play a major part in our lives. So join with me and Jeff as we celebrate women and what they mean to us. Have a great day Ladies Ciao.
I don’t have a title

Most of our Latino friends know that Ruby’s nephew Camilo has got himself in some trouble in America by being even dumber than normal. Everybody is trying to help and hopefully it will all work itself out and he’ll be a little smarter for the experience. Well that being said it’s been unusually hot down here and very dry when you look at the mountains there brown instead of green, but the coast is being hit by storms and storm tides that are doing a lot of damage. With all the different altitudes and climates in this country you get a lot of different weather patterns it’s that right now they happen to be somewhat unusual. Hari was here today and bumped his head, with those lungs he should sing opera, but he’s OK now. You sort of have to expect it with kids of course Ruby was an immediate wreck that come with being a grandma. Jeff will try and keep everybody posted on Camilo but until he goes to court on the 21 we won’t know much. I think this is the weekend that Medellin and National play hopefully we’ll be able to find some place to watch since it’s only on Direct TV. I guess that’s it for now I think I’ll just stay here on Jeff’s boney lap and take a nap he’s so nice he won’t make me leave until I’m ready so for now Ciao.
Just another day
March 6, 2012
Well Jeff and Ruby went to the dentist last night and to refill a prescription and after waiting in line for forty minutes and not getting called they went to the dentist office and found out that the insurance company hadn’t received or hadn’t recorded the payment that they had made on Friday. So that took care of most of the night now they have to reschedule everything I don’t care because I get piece and quite when there not here. Not much going on today except their trying to potty train Hari and he’s not cooperating at all and everybody sends stuff to Jeff to either scan or proof read ,now Jeff proof reading something is a real joke if it wasn’t for spell and grammar check he’d have a hard time spelling his name. I should let him post without running those too and see if anybody can read it. Oh, Oh Nacho and Olga are here and they need something scanned so I’ll be checking out for now, but before I leave Val Jeff and Ruby have everything within five minutes of here so they really don’t move around that much Ciao.
Guess What it’s Monday
March 5, 2012
Welcome to Monday Jeff is listening to oldies again I guess he’s being nostalgic. We heard from my youngest niece she’s going to send Ruby some stuff to help her with her menopause and she say she reads my blog on Facebook. I guess a lot of you might be doing that but I can’t tell because unless you access the site it doesn’t get counted in how many people viewed that site on that day. We got some news that Ruby’s nephew Camilo will be here around the 22nd of March if all goes well. His parents Nacho and Olga will be overjoyed he should have down with his mom in July but he thought he knew better than the adults. Kids should understand we didn’t get old and successful by doing stupid stuff that doesn’t mean we didn’t make mistakes but we learned from them and we try to keep young people from making the same ones. Sunday was Vanessa’s birthday not to much hoopla just gave her the presents and said happy birthday John took her to a swim style club on Saturday so he’s off the hook till next year. Jeff and Hader went drove to Medellin this morning and were pleasantly surprised by the lack of traffic I guess everybody slept late. It’s been cloudy all day and now the sun is coming out so you know what that means I off to my spot by the window Ciao.
NO TITLE
March 4, 2012
Well I’m beginning to realize that Val is probably the only one who reads this but Jeff and I have decided that’s Ok we don’t care we’ll keep writing what we want to and the hell with everybody else. Besides I’m kind of getting use to sitting on Jeff’s boney lap and I think he like me here to. Well sorry we didn’t write anything yesterday it was sort of a do nothing day for all of us, not that we do anything anyhow but this time we did nothing together. No soccer scores to give and I still have nothing I can say about the little family crisis we’re having. Don’t worry it has nothing to do with Jeff or Ruby and it won’t, but those who are involved are a little upset.Maybe when everything is over and done I can devote a post to it. Well it rained pretty good last night and cooled everything off so was a good night for sleeping. Today is a shopping day Jeff and Ruby will be walking down to Exito later today to get the groceries for the week this week promises to very busy with doctor appointments, some are just to renew prescriptions some are dentists and others are for discussions on nutrition and others are on hypertension ( high blood pressure). Listen it’s starting to get hot again so I’m going to the bedroom and lay in front of the fan the rest of the day Ciao.
Here comes the weekend
March 2, 2012
Well here comes the weekend today Jeff is listening to a rebroadcast of radio from 1967 the year he turned 21. Holy shit that’s 45 years ago man he’s an old fart. The quality of the sound on these CD’s is quite amazing .Although Jeff prefers blues music he loves everything except Opera. He got into the blues when he found out all the great from the Stones to the Doors were all influenced by some of the great old blues players. Guys like Eric Clapton have acknowledged this in there recordings or in interviews. Hey I promised you some info on other blogs here goes this is more of a daily message board snowlady@tumbler.com and if you go to rollingstone.com and look up Matt Taibbi I thinks that’s how he spells it you can really get some good insight on a lot of different issues. There’s a couple of problems with friends and relatives up in the US Jeff says he can’t really talk about it maybe later. Well that’s all I got right now later maybe we’ll have more. Oh almost forgot Hader, Catalina and Juan Pablo were here last night Jeff and Juan Pablo played Chess and Domino’s and he might be back this Saturday to help Jeff with some stuff. Now that really is it for today Ciao.
Colombia 2 Mexico 0
March 1, 2012
Alright we’re sitting here listening to a CD of a radio broadcast from 1963, the year Jeff graduated high school, and my grandparents weren’t even born yet. Any it’s pretty cool to hear how the DJ’s and the music sounded back then. Jeff has a lot of stuff like that he has CD’s of old Shadow broadcasts; you have to be his age to know who that is. Well back to the present Colombia won their match with Mexico last night in a very good match. The final was 2-0 with Colombia’s goalie playing a fantastic game. The game ws listed as what they call a friendly match but is was anything but for the Colombian team which played with heart and passion. It was good to see that you don’t always see that in friendly games. John was concerned that Pabon was playing too much near the end of the game since his team national has several games coming p including what they call the classic which a home and home series with Medellin and since both teams are from Medellin the games are important to everyone living here. One thing that surprised me was the number of women who are soccer fans and I do mean fans they’re just as passionate about the sport as the men. Well time to change the CD we’ll have more on soccer and old music tomorrow Ciao.
